Chapter 5 :
"Everything he had ever wanted was so close, yet so far away... Just within his reach, yet miles away from his waiting embrace."
8 October, 1890.
Magnolia, Fiore.
Hands crossed against his chest, he watched as Kinana walked down the street. She seemed to be lost in thoughts. He rested his head on the wall against which he was leaning. He thought about her and how her appearance had tremendously changed. But she was still the same... Except without rememberance.
He was pleased that she treasured that timepiece that he had once given her. He earnestly wished for her memories to return. He couldn't help but think back to the day when it had happened.
He was young but his hearing was still as sharp as a cobra's. The boys of his age had been employed in some digging jobs for that day and it was not easy in a place like the tower. He'd been toiling for hours and that was when he had heard the ticking sounds.
Approaching the particuar spot, he had started digging till he found something that looked like metal. When he had unearthed it, he liked it: an ancient timepiece. He didn't know why or how many years it had spent there, but he hadn't cared.
He wanted to gift it to Kinana and so, he had. She had been absolutely amazed and had always kept it safe. Then, he had taken a sharp stone and had inscribed his name and hers with a heart... The memories warmed him and he wished to share them with her.

Kinana had been early to work but had not finished anything she had intended to accomplish. She had often caught herself staring into nothing simply lost in thoughts. She wanted to be more useful but couldn't help it.
She wished to have some silence and solitude to get used to somethings that happened to her earlier. But of course, such things were beyond possible in a place like Fairy Tail... She thought about the man who'd saved her from those ruffians...
His piercing eyes, his wild features, his strong physique, his long side-burns,... His deamenour! They affected her unlike anything had ever before. But something about him was extremely familiar. And then there was the matter of all the blurry cognizance that he had awakened inside her...
She pushed all those sentiments away as she returned to reality. There were some members who started coming and so she engaged herself in serving them. Then she saw Lady Mirajane come in with Lisanna, her sister. Kinana smiled at her before proceeding towards her to help her.
Mirajane sat behind the counter, telling Kinana that she was feeling much better. Insisting that she still needed some rest, Kinana brought her some food. They sat together and wiped a few washed dishes and talked about many things.
Mirajane was Kinana's rolemodel for she wished to become like her someday... She was a sweetheart who loved everyone and was extremely patient. It was impossible to believe that she had been a gothic rebel in her past... Past! Something Kinana didn't have. Kinana wondered if she had been anything like that in her past.
The day hastened by and Mirajane started to get excited as the evening drew near. Kinana could understand why... Laxus was coming back from one of his missions. He was a calm, unsocial man with depths beyond what anyone saw at first glance, who Mira loved with her very being. Laxus loved her back.
Mirajane started growing tired and her food-craves were bizzare. Kinana was tending to her just as the doors of the guild hall opened. A reverent silence swept over the guild as the authoritive presence of the guild master's grandson, Lord Laxus entered. He eyed everyone and nodded.
Then, he looked over at Mirajane with soft, kind eyes as he made his way towards her. He bent over and planted a kiss on his wife's cheek as she blushed with her cute smile. Kinana watched the serene couple as everyone started returning to minding their own business...
Mira was excitedly relating something to a calm Laxus who was listening to her, lovingly. Then, something she told him made the both of them blush uncontrollably as Kinana averted her eyes to give them their privacy.
'Mira probably told him that she's conceived', Kinana mused as she took a tray of food and drink to serve it to some waiting members.

It was dark and cold outside and Kinana pulled her wraps closer over her shoulders. She looked around and let out a sigh that caused a cloud in the chilly air. Then she raised her head and looked into the distant darkness that awaited her in those long streets.
She hoped the bullies who'd attacked her that morning wouldn't show up against. Whispering that prayer to the Heavens, she made her way home-ward.
She reached her doopstep in a few minutes and went inside. Lighting a lantern, she freshened up and stepped into a nightgown which reached up to her knee. Then she brushed her short purple hair and went over to sit by her bedside-table.
There, her Diary awaited her and she opened it placing her timepiece close by. She picked up her quill, dipped it in ink and opened a fresh page. She thought for a moment before laying down the words that her mind told her:
Dear Diary,
Today is probably a very important day of my life because,... I think that some of my memories are returning to me!
