Next day
Zeref pov
Today was a normal day as any other day. Yet, I was still distracted from yesterday. How the blonde girl helped me out twice. I also didn't know her name. Let's just skip to lunch because I'm sure you don't want to know what happens in my classes since I'm always alone or being ignored. This time I was late because the teacher kept me after class so I had everyone stare at me when I walked into the cafeteria.
"I heard that yesterday he was defended by a girl" a girl whispered to another making her giggle
I made my way to the food and waited in line, while hearing comments behind my back
"Hello" I whispered only loud enough for the lunch lady to hear
"Hello dear, you finally came in here instead" she said, scooping a big pile of food on my plate
"What a pig!" a guy behind said laughing
"I suggest you zip your mouth, honey. If not you ain't getting lunch from here" she said, pointing the big spoon at him
I thanked her and walked towards the exit
Lucy pov
We saw everything and I couldn't believe how rude they were. I couldn't look away, I kept my eyes on Zeref.
He then turned around and locked eyes with me. He smiled and it was cute- I mean... umm... nice smile. I felt my face blush so I turned away so he wouldn't notice.
"Hey Lu-chan, why you so red?" Levy asked smirking as I tried to hide my face
"Do you feel sick, have a fever... or are you blushing?" Mira said 'also known as the she-devil' (match-maker)
"W-What!?! N-No you g-got it all wrong..." I stuttered
"Well you did earn a smile. It means your the only one he likes" Erza said with a smirk
"Juvia agrees"
"I still think he is lame. He has a mouth he can talk to others" Gray said while stripping
"Gray your clothes" I said
"Eh! Lucy-san is looking at Gray-sama amazing body? Love-rival" she said with a aura around her of jealously
"N-NO Juvia, it's not like that. I just happen to notice when he took his shirt off" I said 'Shit, she is going to take that the wrong way'
"So you admit it!" she yelled
"No!"
"Shut up! Gray put your clothes on!" Erza said with a tick mark
"Gomen Erza/Erza-san" me and Juvia said in unision
"Anyways, what if we beat him up for answer" Gajeel said with his 'Gihi' laugh
"Yeah" Natsu said
"Oh, yeah?" Jellal said finally
"What's wrong?" Erza asked
"Oh sorry. It's just that Zeref you were talking about, you said you defended him last time right" he asked me and I just nodded
"Well think about it, he is being picked on and the people in the cafeteria are bugging him" he continued "Maybe everybody picks on him and he avoids them and he probably thinks everyone is the same"
"So that's why he doesn't talk to anyone" I said as everyone nods
"He is usually in the library. I've seen he go in there to read or study" said Levy
"The Shrimps right. In the morning I saw him coming out of the library" Gajeel said
"It's LEVY!" she yelled only to make him smirk and her blush
"Ain't you an angry little shrimp, Gihi" he said, patting her head
"Baka" Levy puffed out her cheeks
"Otp!! GaLe for the win!!" said Mira
"Hey Lu-chan?"
Yeah"
"What do you think about him? You know, Zeref" Levy asked making me blush
"I-I... think he's... different"
