Relief washed over me as I realised what could've been potential danger was almost nothing. I quietly turned around to go back to Lacey, trying not to atract any unwanted walkers.
"Holy-" I gasped before the tall man, who had just scared me ,signaled me to be quiet. How long had he been stood there? Was he watching me?
I gripped my knife hard as I studied the man.
He looked strong, well built and almost like he was made for the apcolipse. In his left arm a crosbow was held with ease even though I knew that thing mustve weighed a ton.
"Are you just gonna keep staring or are you gonna get the hell outa here."
When I didn't reply he held his crossbow upto me as I fumbled with getting my gun out (which had only 4 bullets left) but he had already fired it.
The arrow glided past the side of my face and hit a walker that had gone un noticed by me.
My chest was rising and falling as if I was giving birth. "Cmon" he grabbed my arm and started to walk but I stopped him in his tracks.
"Wait, wait. My daughter I need to go get her." I rushed.
"Where is she" he asked but I stayed silent while I took the time to decide whether he will be a danger to us or not. "Look we dont have the damn tim-"
"Okay okay, this way" I started leading him to my temporary small camp where Lacey was still hiding.
My heart skipped a couple of beats when I looked up the tree but lacey wasn't present. I panicked and peered around desperately, looking for the short, thin, cute little six year old.
"Lace!" I half whispered, half shouted.
A couple of seconds later she appeared from behind some leaves. "Coming" she said sweetly.
I let out a breath as the man behind me let out a deep, raspy chuckle. I helped lacey slightly as she climbed down, even though I knew she was very capable, but as soon as her feet touched the ground she stood behind me and clinged onto my legs in confusion as soon as she saw the man.
"Its okay lace, this is... Uh-"
"Daryl" he smirked looking at me. For a second i for got i was introducing a half hidden lacey whilst looking into his green eyes and replied with "Sydney".
