After a few seconds Daryl looked around,
"We need to keep moving" I nodded surely as I turned to grab my backpack with my right arm, and Lacey with my left.

Silence took over us for the next thirty minuets or so, which is very strange for Lacey, but I think we were all just coming to terms with the unexpected situation we were in.
Me and my girl trailed slightly behind as Daryl led the way to who knows where- hopefully somewhere safe.
The forest kept getting larger and larger, and the sun blazing down against my tight black, slightly dirty, vest and matching tattered skinny jeans, wasn't helping.
"Mommy, how much further, my legs are tired!" Lacey whined, breaking the awkward silence.
"I'm not sure babygirl " At this point Daryl had slowed down and we had made brisk eye contact. Unexpectedly, Daryl crouched down to her level, I knew she wanted to cower away from him but my silence was all the reassurance she needed to trust this man.
"I'm sorry to say it kid but we still have a while to go, so, on a scale of 1- to 'I need a piggy back ride' how bad is it?" Giggling sweetly Lacey nodded her head, which wasn't exactly answering his question, but we knew what she meant.
Daryl smirked as he got to a standing position and handed me his crossbow.
"Hold this for a sec?" I took the sheavy object from his muscular arms-struggling ever so slightly- as i was too taken back by the cuteness to answer.Admiring them, I watched as he hauled my girl past his back but up onto his shoulders and with a quick tummy tickle she was happy and smiling once again.
"Whatever you do, don't drop her" I was worried to say the least however the trust I had in Daryl after only an hour of knowing of his existence was unreal. He shook his head at me in perhaps disbelief of my statement.
"Here" He said as he reached for his crossbow with one hand, holding onto Lacey above him with the other, but I swung it slightly away from him, watching the panic in his eyes.
"You're carrying my baby- I'll carry yours" I winked although he didn't seem the slightest bit pleased at my proposal. With Lacey on his shoulders, we seemed to carry out more conversation that we had before with casual conversation about 'how old Lacey was' and 'how long we've been out here alone' which I replied with
"Long enough, but we can handle it." I was very sure about this statement.
We were with lots of people before we got out. It was no group, more of a unwanted organisation if you ask me. They call themselves the Eagles, based high up in Washington so they can see everything that's going on. Quite frankly they're horrible: they have children army camps; they kill any trespassers without reasons- they'd kill you for no reason at all but its fine as long as they could make up a random excuse for it.
You'd think people like that would be dropping like flies but they're the ones gaining power, gaining trust of people that doing know their true colours.
I had to get out of there, it wasn't safe anymore, especially with Lacey's dad so high up in terms of power.
You could say that I'm kind of 'wanted' around Washington for escaping but they can't find me now, I mean I look completely different and Lacey is a whole year older that before.
"-Sydney? Are you listening?" I was taken away from my thoughts.
"Sorry, could you say it again?" Daryl huffed at me.
"Never mind." I looked over at him to find that Lacey was no longer on his shoulders but on his back and her small head was resting against his shoulder as she slept.
Looking up through the canopys of leaves , I could vaguely see the sky, the sun much lower than before "Its going to get dark soon" I stated, hinting that we need to settle down for the night.
"From what I remember there's a barn across here" Daryl directed us towards the left where after a couple of minuets of trailing behind the two of them we came or a road which at the other side of it was mainly open feilds, with the exception of a few trees, and a old run down barn. We stopped a couple of metres before tnbe road, behind some bushes as we examined the dozen walkers around the barn.
"What if there's more inside" I asked "I have four bullets and a couple of knives how are we supposed to take them all out?" At this point I was slightly worried.
"Sydney, they are dead- you aren't, they are stupid- we'll it's debatable but" I huffed and lightly punched his strong bicep.
"Hey!" We both laughed it off and I peered at my beautiful, still sleeping, Lacey.
"We can take these" he reassured me "trust me, but it's too dangerous for Lacey to be on my back"
"Don't worry her forté is hiding in trees" I joked, even though she was kinda good at it.
