"The water is cold," I said, dipping my legs slowly in the water as I sat beside Luke on the edge of a pond, surrounded by trees with streaks of sunlight falling on the surface of the water and making it glow.
"Don't worry. It will feel alright after a while." He said as he shook his legs under the water, causing ripples on the surface. I sighed as my legs slowly adjusted to the water temperature.
"So, tell me about yourself." Luke turned towards me with a smile on his face and curiosity gleaming in his eyes.I bent down and putting my one elbow on my knee, cupped my face as I drew circles in the water with the other hand.
"My name is Jenna Stephenson. I am 17 years old. I happily moved here when I was kidnapped by four stupid jerks who still won't tell me why they did that!" I yelled the last part as sadness came over Luke's face.
"Jenna, listen......" He started and tried to caress my cheek but I slapped his hand away. Anger surged through me as I said, "No Luke, you listen! I had a life, you know! My Mum! She must be worried sick about me!" I got and stood in front of him, frantically waving and stomping my foot as a single tear escaped from my eye.
"Jenna, you don't understand...." He got up too and tried to hold my hand but I waved it away.
"Then make me understand! Why did you kidnap me?! Just tell me now!" I crossed my arms and stomped my foot, waiting for an answer but he just hung his head. I let out a frustrated sigh and when I was sure he wasn't going to answer me, I turned around and started walking away. Away from him.Away from everything.
But I had barely taken a single step, when Luke curled his fingers around my wrist and said almost in a whisper,"Jennifer." I turned around and swung my hand with all the strength I had as it landed on his cheek with a resounding sound. Everything went silent as he clutched his injured cheek with his hand and gave me a murderous glare as his eyes started turning a darker shade of blue.
Did I regret that?
No.
Was he going to make me regret that?
The possibilities are endless.
For now, I pointed my index finger directly at his face and said threateningly, "Don't call me Jennifer ever again. Ever." He didn't even move a centimeter from his position and it was seriously starting to creep me out a bit. I resisted the urge to knock on his head to check whether he had turned into a statue or something.
I rolled my eyes and started walking away when Luke stepped in front of me and I stumbled back in surprise. He was fast. He was no clutching his cheek, which was slowly turning red, but the menacing glare was still present.
"Where do you think you're going?" He asked as he started walking towards me and I stumbled back over pieces of pebbles and wood.
"Luke...I....I.." It all came out as a whisper as a chill ran through my bones.
"What? I tried to make you understand but obviously you don't know how to have a peaceful conversation." He walked even closer to me.
"Luke..."
"What LUKE? YOU WANNA SLAP ME AGAIN? THEN DO IT!!" He yelled at me and the hair stood up on my neck and suddenly everything felt so cold.
"Nothing to say, huh? I tried to be good to you! I even began regretting what I had done. I even began falling for you!! But YOU!! You are just like the others! You need to be taught how to obey!" He said and he caught my wrist in his hand, intentionally digging his nails into it. I tried to pry his hands off me but he turned around and dragged me along with him. I screamed for help all the way but I was greeted only by the chirping of the birds.
When I saw the familiar structure of the house, I screamed my lungs out and refused to move my feet. Nevertheless, I was no match for Luke who pushed the door open with a bang and dragged me more harshly. Calum was sitting in the couch and he immediately stood up when he saw us.
"Luke, leave her alone!" He ran towards us and tried to rescue me from Luke but he pushed Calum away who stumbled back. Despite that, he came back and stood in front of Luke, blocking his way.
"Luke, you are not thinking straight, mate." Calum put his hand on Luke's shoulder but Luke pushed it off.
"Fuck off, Calum. This is none of your business." Luke said as he started walking again but Calum didn't budge from his position.
"I think it is my business. You can't just treat her......" The rest of his words were cut off as he was punched hard on the nose by Luke and I gasped loudly as I saw Calum falling down, clutching his nose. Luke started dragging me up the stairs and soon we were in front of a room.
"No! Luke!! No!" I screamed as Luke kicked the door open and pulled me inside as he shut the door with his leg. He smirked as I tried to use both my hands to pry his fingers off my wrist. He smirked as he saw my effort.
"Luke!! Please! Let me go!" I begged him and surprisingly, he let go off my hand. I looked up at him in shock as he shrugged his shoulders and said, "Go." I didn't miss this chance and soon enough I was running towards the door and was fumbling with the lock. Just as the door opened and I saw a bit of the hallway, an arm wrapped around my waist and I was hoisted up in the air. I kicked the air as Luke locked the door again and threw me over his shoulder. I did everything. I punched his back, pulled his hair and even dug my nails into his arms but in vain.
He dropped me on the bed as he hovered over me on his knees and came closer as I dragged my body back until it touched the headboard.
"Luke, please! Please Luke! I didn't mean any of that! It was just a......"I rambled out in fear.
"Ssshh" He cut off my words by putting his one finger on my lips and grinned at my shocked face. I stared at him as he slowly slid his fingers down my lips parting them a little. I broke out of my daze as he slowly sat down on his knees in front of me and said,"Don't make a sound, dear."
I was startled as he slammed both his hands on the headboard beside my head and brought his face near mine. I turned my head in disgust and tears fell down my cheek.
"You are more beautiful up close. Pure. Naive." He slowly stroked my cheek and gently forced me to look up at his face. He blew a soft air into my face and my eyes fluttered shut. Slowly a soft pair of lips touched my own and I melted into that kiss. It wasn't rough. It wasn't filled with lust. It was just perfect.
Luke's arms slowly wrapped around my waist as I was slowly lowered onto the bed. His other arm stroked through my hair. The kiss was perfect. Everything was perfect.
But I broke the kiss and pushed him off me.
I couldn't just kiss someone who just destroyed my life. It's wrong.
Maybe Luke understood this as he sighed and ran his hands through his hair. I got up from my position and sat up, bringing my knees up to my chest and hugging myself. I scooted away from him in fear as he got up in a daze and walked out of the door without even speaking a word.
I slowly stroked my lips where Luke's lips had been just a moment ago. Something felt empty. I felt hollow. I felt incomplete.
It felt like Luke completed me.
