I started to sing a Halloween song as I washed my hands. "Oooh, oooh, oooh, ooh-ooh oooh, oooh, oooh," I whistled. My voice echoed through the girls bathroom at school. Lunch was about to start. Chelsea walked in.

"Ugh, stop singing! You're horrible at it!" she exclaimed. I stopped singing and tears filled my eyes.

"Actually, you're one of the best singers I've ever heard," a girl said, walking in the bathroom. Oh, I think she was in my art class. Oh yeah, she's Brittany Greene! She's really nice.

"Umm, where did you come from, monkey girl?" Chelsea stared at her with a look of hate. Brittany stared at the ground. "Aww, that's right. You pout," Chelsea said and laughed.

Whoa. That was mean. Anger filled inside me.

"Emily, go get my lunch out of my locker. You know the combo. Oh, and don't forget my water bottle," Chelsea ordered, looking at her nails. I stared at her and narrowed my eyes.

"You know what? No. No, no, NO. Deal with it, Chelsea," I said. She raised her eyebrows and put her hands on her hips. "Excuse me?" she said.

"I'm not getting your lunch. You're just too lazy walk across the hall to your freaking locker to get your freaking lunch!" I shouted at her. "And why are you such a bully to everyone, including ME, and the new girl Brittany?" Brittany looked up at me and smiled. "In fact, I'm not your friend anymore, Chelsea," I told her.

"Umm, you can't just leave me!" Chelsea said.

"Oh yeah? Watch me," I said, walking over to Brittany. "I'm going to be Brittany's friend."

"Umm, you never asked me," Brittany said.

"Oh, sorry. Can I be your friend?" I asked.

"Sure," she said and smiled.

"Fine. Have fun being unpopular," Chelsea said and walked out of the bathroom. I don't care if I'm going to be unpopular. I just want to have real friends for a change.
