Killian's POV
Emma left me alone, and her father walked over to me, his arms crossed over his chest.

"So what are your intentions with my daughter?"

"To get an A on the English project." Trying not to be snarky, it was more of a question, because I was afraid of giving the wrong answer. Even though I play football, and can hold my own, this guy was pretty massive, and could probably take me. He was really intimidating.

"That's it?"

"Yes sir." I felt a chill run down my back while he glared at me with his icy gaze.

"It better be." He uncrossed his arms, and walked around the counter, as I heard Emma's footsteps echoing on the stairs.

Emma came back down with her computer, and I released a sigh of relief.

Emma's POV
I came back down, and my dad was leaning towards Killian on the other side of the island. Killian looked like he was about to faint and fall out of the chair, while my dad was trying to act like it was nothing.

"Dad." I said, with a 'really' tone of voice.

"What?" He tried to sound innocent.

I pointed to Killian, and when my dad turned around Killian put on a panicky smile,"It's all fine."

"Dad we have to work on our project." I said, taking the spot next to Killian at the island.

He nodded, then went to his bedroom. But he kept peeking out, I never saw him, but Killian did. I could tell because he would tense up and stop whatever he was saying. But whenever I turned around my dad would duck behind the corner.

It was weird not having Killian making smart comments, or inappropriate jokes. Not really a good weird either. He was actually funny sometimes.

"I'm gonna make us some hot cocoa. Do you like cinnamon on yours?"

"What? Oh, uh I've never tried it."

"Well you never forget your first. Whether it's good or bad, there is no in between, you won't forget it." I laughed a bit. I remember when my dad had first tried it. He acted like it was really good to make my mom and I happy, but kept coughing and was making a face. My mom and I had him make himself a new cup without cinnamon.

Killian looked kind of scared to try it. He took a small sip, and tilted his head a bit and squinted his eyes. "That's actually really good."

"It's a good thing you like it, otherwise I don't think we could talk anymore. My dad doesn't like it and I haven't been able to look at him the same since." I joked, then I realized my dad might have heard me so I shouted in his direction,"I'm just kidding dad."

I heard a chime coming from my parents' room, it was my dad's work phone. I heard him muttering something, probably 'why now I don't want to leave my daughter alone with a boy in our house' or something along those lines.

He jogged up to me and kissed my forehead,"I'll be back as soon as I can. Be good." He jogged out the door, grabbing his coat and keys on the way.

"I will." I called to him as he shut the door behind him.

I saw Killian relax, and he started making jokes again. I shook my head, I couldn't help from smiling. As I was walking back around the island with my hot cocoa in hand, I hit my hip on the corner, and my drink splashed on Killian.
