"Well...don't tell Marv, he'll be pissed. But she's got the potential to become our fourth member." Jay was quiet for a few seconds before breathing. "Are you serious?" "Hell yeah I am. We could really use her if she lives up to the info we got on her." It was quiet again and Jay said, "We'll need to have a meeting then. That's a serious move Jin, and you know it." I sighed and ran a hand through my light brown hair. "Yeah I know...and you're right. Tell Marv that we'll meet in 10." "What about Ronnie?" I thought a moment and exhaled. "Umm...lock her up in the den or something. We've gotta have SOMETHING she likes." I hung up and turned back to my mess of a desk.
I opened Ronnie's file on my computer and looked it over again. This girl had some real potential. Just a little bit of training and she'd be almost as good as...
A knock on my office door pulled me from my mind. "It's open." Marv came in and sat down on the couch. "Jin, what the hell are you thinking? You know she could never be as good as Isla!" I set my jaw and turned to face him. He had his elbows on his knees and his hands holding his head. "I know she couldn't. But we need someone to fill that position Marv. And you know it." He sighed in frustration as Jay came in. He sat next to Marv and put a hand on his shoulder. "You alright bro?" Sighing, the big man sat back and looked at me. "Jin. If she passes the test AND the physical, I'll train her myself. I might as well if she's going to be working with me."
I smiled a small smile and nodded. "You got it Marv. And I want you to know that I'm not trying to replace her. Honest." He nodded and blinked hard. "I know man. But it's only been a year. I thought we were doing okay..." Jay dropped his jaw. "You don't mean that! We screwed up three jobs IN A ROW after Isla. We only got decent because Jin and I beat the shit out of you!" Marv chuckled and looked at Jay. "Nah dude. You TRIED." Jay punched Marv in the arm as I laughed.
