Chapter 9

(Demeter's POV)

I was finally released from the hospital, and Kathrine well...not really.

Since I was finally out I went to check on Katherine only to find Skyler passed out beside her bed.

"Skyler!" I yelled and ran to Skyler, I lay her head on my Lap and check her pulse.

I sighed in relief when I felt a heart beat, I instinctively put a hand on her forehead.

I gasped, she was burning up with a fever.

I ran out and searched for the closest doctor or nurse.

I found a nurse looking at her check board and I ran to her.

"Hey no running in the-" I interrupted her and said "no time! My friend passed out and is burning up with a fever!".

The nurse nodded and said "where?".

"Inside Katherine Hale's room, I found her passed out" I said.

"Okay just wait with your friend Katherine while I check your friend" she said and I nodded and followed her.

After we arrived to the room, the nurse picked up Skyler and carried her to another room.

I just sat on the chair beside Katherine's bed and just stared at my best friend.

She used to be so full of life and joy, and now she's just...dull.

I ran a hand through her hair and said "hi, it's me Demeter. I really miss you Kath, everyone is worried about you, please wake up" I said hoping that a miracle would wake her up.

When I got no response I remembered what the nurses told me about her state.

"Why did this happen to her? Please tell me!" I yelled.

The nurse, Amanda, answered "well we checked her physical state and she had several gashes and bruises and big slash across her chest which lost her a huge amount of blood, but comas don't just happen out of weakness, there's always a reason".

"Then what is it?" I asked now fearing the worst.

"We think it's out of guilt" Amanda simply stated.

"Guilt?" I wondered aloud.

"Yes guilt. Your friend had told us all about how this happened, and after that this girl has said to her sister, I'd say she felt so guilty that.." she stopped herself.

"She what?!" I asked, maybe a little bit too loud.

"Don't you get it? She is trapping herself in her own head" she answered calmly.

"She...what?" I said in a loss at what to say.

"She thinks that if she wakes up that she'll hurt you again, so she sent out something inside her to prevent her from waking up until she feels the guilt is gone" she said.

"For how long?" I asked, more like a whisper of regret.

"From what we heard from your story, months" she replied with a sorry face.

"F-for...months? No.... no no no...this can't be..why.." I murmured as I put a hand on my forehead in disbelief.

It was all my fault, and it was true.

If I didn't let that dagger hit me Katherine would be wide awake rambling about the good old times.

If I never got mad at her she would've never been kidnapped by Kate, never been possessed, and never...in a Coma.

What have I done?

Before I knew it tears were falling down my face.

(Katherine's POV)

"Mom, dad, Skyler, Demeter, thank you all so much!!" I squealed as I pulled them all into a group hug.

"You're welcome dear now please let mommy and daddy breathe" mom said and I just let go and laughed.

"Oh Kath! My present to you is outside!" Demeter said as she covered my eyes with her hands, "but you have to close your eyes".

"Okay okay, let's go!" I exclaimed and walked with Demeter covering my eyes with her really warm hands.

"Can I see now?" I asked impatiently.

Demeter then removes her hands from my eyes and I gasp at the sight.

There was a table, with a card on it, and best of all...a wolf cub!

"Oh my God!! Thank you thank you thank you!" I yelled happily as I ran to pick up the pup.

it wasn't the slightest bit weird, our family had a reputation of raising wolves who lost their parents and I've been waiting forever to get one.

"So what are you gonna name this fella?" Dad asked as he walked to me and wrapped his arms around my shoulders.

So the wolf pup had brown fur with bright purple eyes, so I said "Violet! For her gorgeous purple eyes!".

"Good choice dear" mom said and Skyler ran yo me to touch Violet.

Violet purred at her touch, and I started petting her back.

Then it started raining, it was so sunny how could it just suddenly rain?

"Let's go inside birthday girl" Skyler said as she walked to our back door.

"Alright!" I said as I skipped and jumped happily to the door.

(Skyler's POV)

I wake up with a terrible headache so I immediately fell back down when I tried to lift my head.

I looked around and saw I was in a hospital bed with mom and dad standing beside the bed.

"Mom dad, what happened?" I asked.

"Demeter found you passed out beside your sister's bed with a terribly high fever, but at least it broke down now" mom said.

"Are you alright now?" Dad asked, I just nodded my head.

There was something wrong, people don't just randomly get fevers and then feel weak afterwards.

That's when I remembered that voice, it was weird, and yet so familiar.

I felt a breeze fly by so I lifted my head and looked at the window, it was closed how was that possible?

"Is something wrong?" Mom asked in concern.

"That breeze, didn't you feel it?" I asked while getting dizzier by the minute.

"What breeze? We felt nothing dear" dad said now looking at me with worry.

"You're just tired, go to sleep. We're going to check on hour sister" mom said and laid my head back on the pillow.

Mom and dad got up and before leaving whispered "goodnight, rest well".

Once they were out that breeze came back and then a laugh.

"You won't be free for long, enjoy your life while you can, little wolf"

I was too tired to question the voice so I let myself slip away into sleep.

"This is gonna be fun, boss will be pleased".
