(Skyler's POV)

I stared in shock at the man that stood before of me; the man that I'd believed was dead was actually alive and was standing in front of me.

"Hello, Skyler," dad spoke as he wore a happy grin with just an edge of feral.

"D-dad...is it really you?" I asked, running my eyes as a reality check. My eyes were as wide as those bug fancy plates mom always uses when we host guests, and dad seemed to find that funny as he let out a chuckle.

"Yes Skyler, it's me," he answered somewhat solemnly. His eyes were warm and honest as he spoke, leading me to trust his word for it. This was real.

I choke out a confused sob as tears over flow and pour out of my tired eyes, running to dad and straight into his embrace that I've longed for.

"I-I thought w-we lost you!" I cried into dad's chest and he ran a soothing hand through my messy hair.

"Its okay Skylen, it's okay. I'm right here now," dad said, the fond nickname rolling off his tongue as though he hadn't been playing dead for years and years.

I looked up to his handsome face and asked, "Where were you?"

"I can't explain right now; care to help me get your sister and friend to the hospital?" He suggested as his eyes took in the mess that was demeter and Katherine. His eyes lingered on my new sister, his eyes taking on a sad hue as he sighed.

"Yes, of course!" I exclaimed. I ran to Demeter and stared at the bite mark on her side for a while, wondering,  'Did he actually...'

I shook my head and lifted Demeter's out cold body, wrapping her arm around my neck to support her weight.

"I'm glad to see you Kathy," I heard my dad whisper to Katherine, and had I turned to them, I would have seen a soft smile on his face.

I smiled. Who knows how long dad has been worried about Katherine and I?

Although Demeter and Katherine were hurt, I was still happier than ever to see my dad again. A guilty sting rested in my heart at the thought. My friends were traumatized and almost killed, why was I happy?

I ignore the pressing thought and ran after dad as he carried Katherine.

We rushed outside and ran to dad's car. We didn't even bother to take Kate's body with us, it already turned to ash after she chanted those words.

"I've missed you dad!" I suddenly blurted out. Dad turned me in surprise.

"Trust me, as much as I wanted to come back, there was something keeping me from returning, but I'm back now," he smiled, prompting me to respond to his smile with a smile of my own.

Baby steps, my mind whispered as my heart, although worried, did a small happy dance.

(Katherine's POV)

"Demeter!" I yelled as I watched Demeter collapse to the ground. Skyler runs to her in a panic as she choke out, "she's gone..."

"N-no, it can't be!" I yelled. I took a step, ready to go to my friends, until-

"Stay away from her you monster! This is all your fault!" Skyler yelled.

"I-I didn't mean to. I'm sorry..." I stuttered as I stepped back from the now wolfed out Skyler.

"Stay away from us! Never come back! You caused all this! And now you killed my only friend!" Skyler snarled, her fangs out and ready to hunt.
