Clarissa POV
"So, tell me: What do you like in guys?" Tyler asked, looking down at me momentarily before staring back to the road.
We were in his car after our second little hangout at the beach and boardwalk. I chuckled at the question and Tyler, after stopping at the red light, looked at me quizzically.
"What? It's a question." He started, staring back at the road once the light turned green.
"What do you like? Emo guys? Class clowns? Tell me." He emphasized, pounding on the wheel at each word.
I looked at him before laughing once more. Looking out the window, I stared out into the "moving" night sky. My eyes looked left and right, as if I was hypnotized by the passing buildings growing smaller and out of sight, as I look through the rear view mirror of the car.
The car made an abrupt turn into a vacant lot with dimmed lights. The wheels grazed against the concrete, as Tyler gunned on the gas and raced down the long room.
I looked at Tyler in angst, before he hit the brakes and pulled the lever to park.
He looked at me for a moment before a smile crossed his face.
"It takes all of this," Tyler said, gesturing to the events that took place, "To get you to look or listen to me?"
I laughed and smirked at him. "I guess," I started, repositioning myself on the passenger seat, by putting my knees beneath me so that I could be at the same level as him.
"I was just lost in my thoughts, that's all." I reassured him.
Tyler nodded slowly, contemplating on what to say next.
"So... what do you like in guys?" He asked, sneaking a smirk.
I sighed, looking straight out to the narrow lot.
"C'mon," Tyler whined, placing his hand on my thigh.
I looked down to his hands on my thigh and up at him.
I cleared my throat and shifted myself away from his hands in discomfort.
Tyler again placed his hands on my thigh, and I shot him an angry glare, one eyebrow raised.
"I- I'm sorry, I was tempted; won't do it again." Tyler mumbled, looking away.
My face softened at his pouting. Gosh, why does he make me feel butterflies inside?, I thought as I mumbled profanities to myself.
Tyler must've noticed because he chuckled. "What are you cursing for?"
"No-nothing, its fine." I stuttered, looking down while blushing.
Tyler lifted my face with his hands.
"No, tell me."
"I- I like you."
"I like you too, but-"
"I know you said that we need to get to know each other before moving on in this friendship-" I started, gesturing to both of us, but he places his finger on my lips to silence me.
"I just want to know what you like in guys, it's all." He said, and I sighed, looking away but he grabbed my head to face him.
I wriggled my face out of his grasp, smoothing out my denim jeans.
"I haven't really dated guys to know what my type is."
He opened and closed his mouth, looking away as he furrowed his eyebrows.
"Look, I know-" I started, but he grabbed my face and kissed me.
We looked at each other, eyebrows raised, before Tyler began kissing me again.
After a few moments of resisting, I gave in to the passionate kiss. His lips were soft like pillows, despite the fact that it tasted of sweat but I didn't care.
I deepened the kiss before he carried me over to the driver's seat, where he was seated.
I wrapped my legs around his waist, while caressing his curly hair. Tyler let out a small moan before he began unbuttoning my shirt and threw it to the back of the car.
I proceeded to do the same as we continue to make-out.
Tyler started to unclasp my bra but I broke the kiss and slapped his hands, causing him to look away in contempt.
"If this is what you brought me here to do then I'm not the girl to do it." I muttered, before climbing back to the passenger seat.
Tyler looked at me, his hard stare softened before shaking his head quickly.
"N-no, that wasn't my plan at all. I knew that there was an abandoned lot here, but I came here because I just wanted to talk to you. I mean, yes, I was tempted but that wasn't my original plan. It was all a coincidence, a mistake. You were ignoring me-" He began, but I slapped him on his left cheek so hard that it looked as if my finger prints were engraved into his left cheek.
My eyes watered, and I took a deep breath as tears flowed down my cheek.
Tyler, too awestruck to speak, reached over to embrace me, but I dodged it.
"I can't believe you just said that. A coincidence? A mistake? I like you, Tyler. A lot."
I paused, feeling the tension in the air, foreseeing us being distant towards one another because of this."Maybe this," I said, gesturing to the both of us, "was a mistake."
"I'm so sorry, Clarissa."
"Just take me home please."
I reached for my shirt at the back of the car and threw Tyler's to him. He looked at me once more before driving out of the lot.
***
Once Tyler reached my house, he pulled the lever to park, and looked over to me.
I sighed and reached down to grab my belongings, before staring back at him. "I think that I need time to think about all of this before anything. I just got out of a relationship recently and I feel like having sex with someone I just met to forget all those feelings I have for someone isn't the way to go. I'll talk to you soon."
I left the car before Tyler could say anything. I heard the car start and pull away as I jogged up the steps to my house.
I paused momentarily when I heard laughter coming from the house. My grandma doesn't usually have people over today, I thought, as I fumbled through my bag to find the keys. Skeptical, I hesitated before opening the door.
My lips parted at the sight before me.
"What are you doing here?"
