The next day Ella went back to learning with the girls as a whole coven they were getting much stronger they returned to the clearing where Caroline had taken them the week before "right so are we gonna try this without Caroline's help" Emily said taking a deep breath the girls nodded as formed a line first as before Holly called all the animals to her a lot more than the first time came to her as the animals gathered around the clearing Emily stepped forward and closed her eyes the forest set ablaze just like before but more trees were burning as Katelyn was about to spread the fire "oh my god Katelyn don't spread the fire Rosie put it out now" Rose screamed all the girls where confused until they looked where Rose was looking they could see a human figure running from the fire they had to get the fire out quickly Ella took Rosie's right hand and channelled her power to increase Rosie's a massive rain cloud formed over the trees and water poured from them and the fire died out Rose quickly regrew the leaves so the forest was as they found it maybe they could make the person believe he had imaged what the girls did Emily ran to were the figure was it was a teenage boy he had cowered by a shrub on the outline of the trees the boy lifted his head it was Ethan his eyes fixed on Ella her heart sank "oh thank god he's ok" Emily sighed Ethan's eyes were fixed on Ella as if in a silent convocation but Ella was doing that inside her own head a part of her wanted to hug Ethan as she was so thankful that he was unharmed but the other part of her was saying to stay with the girls and act like she didn't know Ethan at all. Holly reached out her hand to Ethan to help him up but he cowered away from it "its ok we won't hurt you I just want to make sure you are ok" again Ethan looked up but only at Ella Katelyn stood behind Ella and lowly said into her ear "maybe you should give it a try" Ella gave Kaitlyn a slight smile and stepped toward Ethan she did as Holly did before her and Ethan took her hand in his and allowed her to help him to his feet his head for a brief moment was next to Ella's he whispered "I won't tell" at that moment all Ella wanted to do was hug Ethan so tightly as a thank you for being such a good friend to her but she couldn't Ethan faced the girls. Emily circled Ethan to check for any injuries "Emily is he ok" Rose asked panicky "yeah Rose he at least physically he is" Emily stood in front of Ethan and looked right into his eyes "and as far as I can tell apart from shock and confusion he's fine emotionally" Ethan looked around at the girls he hoped Ella wouldn't let them harm him, but he was still scared of them "what's your name" Rosie asked calmly "E... Ethan" "you must be so scared Ethan we are so sorry we didn't know that you were in there we never intended to hurt anyone" "How-how did you do all that?" the girls took a moment to think how they should answer Ella nodded to the girls then turned her head back to Ethan "we have magic all of us has control over a different element Holly has the power over animals, Rosie the power over water, Katelyn the power over air, Emily the power over fire, Rose the power over earth and me i can control all of the elements and have the ability to make the others stronger when their power isn't strong enough on its own" "magic you have to be joking witches aren't real and the next time you practice a mad prank do it where none can get hurt" with that Ethan ran off Ella knew it was all an act to protect her but Ethan's words felt too real for her heart to bear "do you think we should go after him?" Rose said "no he clearly doesn't believe in magic so he won't tell anyone what he saw but i think we should tell Claire just in case" Rosie said the girls thought it through for a moment then nodded in agreement the girls headed back to the house and went straight to see Claire as they came down the hallway toward Claire's office they saw Caroline at her desk outside Claire's door she looked up as she heard their footsteps "girls I don't believe Claire is asked you here why do you seek her?" Ella stepped forward "we may have made a big mistake and we wish to inform Claire about it" "oh i see well that's very big of you girls I'll just go see if she is free to speak with you" "thank you Caroline" Caroline knocked on Claire's door and awaited a response from the other side the girls heard Claire's voice saying "come in" with that Caroline entered the office leaving the girls standing in the hallway "what do you think Claire will say to us" Holly said panicking Ella turned to face her friend "Claire will understand that we had no intention to be seen or to nearly kill someone and she'll see that we came straight to her that we are trying to make this right" Holly nodded and smiled at Ella, Ella smiled back and pulled Holly into a hug. Caroline reappeared and told the girls that they could go straight in the girls all took a deep breath and entered the office as Caroline closed the door behind them the girls saw Claire sitting behind her desk and slowly approached when they were a few steps from the desk they all formed a line in coven order Holly, Rosie, Ella, Katelyn, Emily, and Rose "what do you need to talk about girls?" Ella stepped forward cleared her throat "we went to practice like Caroline showed us went to the clearing and repeated Caroline's last lesson Holly called all the animals to her and Emily set fire to the trees just as Katelyn was about to make the fire spread Rose started shouting she saw someone in the trees I took Rosie's hand to quickly put out the fire Rose quickly regrew the trees and we all ran to the person he was ok a little scared and shocked but ok he believed what he saw was a prank or joke because he didn't believe in magic after that he ran off and we came straight to you." Claire just looked at the girls for what seemed like a very long time, but Claire was just thinking about what to do next. After a few moments Claire spoke "girls are you sure this boy did not believe you?" the girl's nodded "very sure he looked at us as if we were mad" Emily said Claire looked at the girls with a face of understanding and love like a mother to her children it struck a memory in Ella of her mother when she was 5.
Ella had come home from a party where she had a very good time Ella was telling her mum all the fun she had had with the other children her mother smiled at her full of love and joy that that moment Anna walked into the room Ella smiled at her sister and reached into the bag she had taken to the party she pulled out a small plastic bag with balloons on it and walked to her sister "Anna I'm sorry that you were too unwell so didn't get to come to the party but I wanted you to have a party bag from it but there wasn't enough but you can have mine" Ella handed the bag over Anna looked inside to find 2 balloons, a streamer, some felt tip pens and a colouring book Anna's face brighten up she dropped the bag and hugged her sister "Ella that was very nice of you to think of your sister when she is unwell" Anna and Ella released each other from the hug Ella turned to her mother "she's my twin if she's not happy I'm not happy" Sophie smiled a smile of understanding and love at her two beautiful twin girls.
The memory faded from Ella's mind and brought her back to Clair's office Clair was still looking at the girls Ella wasn't sure how long she had been lost in the memory of her mother and sister but by the scene before she guessed only a few minutes had passed "ok girls hopefully nothing will come of this encounter but to be on the safe side none of you are to leave the grounds without Caroline or myself with you so if that boy does tell anyone there is no chance of us losing our only full strong coven" the girls all nodded "of course Clair whatever you think is best we will do won't we girls?" Emily said looking from Clair to the girls, the girls all made a noise of agreement then Clair dismissed them from her office. The girls returned to their dorm to get ready for dinner Ella sat on her bed she was so worried about Ethan if he were really ok and if he would still be out in the grounds tonight to meet her. All the girls got ready for dinner apart from Ella "Ella aren't you coming down to dinner" Emily asked while running a brush down her hair "no I'm not feeling to well think I'm just going to have a lie down if that's ok" "of course it's ok Ella if you're not feeling well you need rest but do you what us to try and sneak anything up here for you later" Holly asked with a caring glow in her eyes "no Holly its ok but thank you for caring about me" Holly smiled at Ella as the girls closed the door behind them leaving Ella alone in the dorm she reached into the draw on her bedside table and pulled out her drawing pad and looked through the drawings that Ethan had done for her and the ones she had drawn of her mum and dad, her sister and of Ethan. Ella could not shake the feeling that something bad was about to happen and she could not stop thinking about Ethan. Ella lay back and drifted into a peaceful rest she awoke about an hour later by the sound of Toby barking happily as the girls had tried to sneak in without waking Ella "Toby now look what you've done we tried not to wake Ella you silly boy" Emily said picking him up and stroking his head "it's ok Emily I did get some rest and it seems to have helped i feel a lot more myself" "oh that's brilliant Ella" Holly said sitting next to Ella and picking up the drawing pad Ella suddenly felt a lump in her thought what if the girls saw the drawings of Ethan and recognized him as the boy from the woods "you really are a fabulous drawer Ella" Holly said flipping from page to page lucky missing the drawing of Ethan Holly smiled closed the drawing pad and went to get ready for bed.
