The next morning when I saw Luke in the hallway I tried to act as normal as possible, I knew the last thing he would want was pitty, so I wasn't going to treat him like he was made of glass, I knew how annoying that could be.

"Hi" I said as he walked up to me

"Hey"

I was smiling but it turned into a frown as soon I got a good look at his face.

"What?"

"You have a bruise" I whispered. There was slight bruising on his cheek, right on his cheekbone. I reached out to touch his cheek but he flinched away.

"I was hoping you wouldn't notice" he muttered

"What happened?"

"I uh...I ran into a door?"

"Luke..."

"Fine" he sighed "my mom got really mad yesterday when I got home and started yelling at me, saying she'd had enough of my shit and I had to stop comming home so late"

He reached up to run a hand through his hair, which caused the sleeve of his sweater to ride up showing bruises around his wrist.

" Luke" he looked at me "give me your hand"

"For what?"

"Just give me your hand"

He gave me a funny look and then hesitantly put his hand in front of me, I took it and put his sleeve up, showing bruises all around his wrist. I looked up at him and he avoided my gaze.

"What is this?"

"I might have tried to get away...she wasn't too happy about that..."

"Luke" I sighed

"I'm fine"

"No you're not"

"Yes I am, don't worry about me I'm okay" I just looked at him, not believing a word he said "seriously, I'm fine I promise. I gotta get to class, see you at lunch" he kissed my forehead and then walked away.
It hurt to see him like this, and the worst part was that I couldn't do anything about it.

A few hours of not paying attention to my teachers later i was sat at the lunch table with the guys and Lauren, this time Michael sat next to her and they were talking quietly, I swear you could hear Lauren giggle every five seconds.

"Hey you guys wanna hang out at my place today after school?" Calum spoke up

"I can't I uh...I have homework to do" Luke muttered and I sighed knowing that he was lying.

"I'm in" Lauren said

"Yeah me too"

"I'll come"

"Hailey?"

"Sure I just...I have something to do after school but I'll meet you guys there"

"Cool"

The bell rang and we went back to class.

When classes were over I was on my way to the library when I noticed Luke standing outside the music room, leaning on the door.

"What the hell are you doing here!?"

"I'm waiting for you" he grinned

"What?"

"We always hang out here after school remember?"

"Luke you're supposed to be home"

"But I don't wanna go there" he pouted

"I don't want you getting hurt because of me, go home"

"No. Now come in"

"Luke" I groaned

"Come on, just for a little while, please?" He did those cute little puppy eyes that kill me and are impossible to say no to and I budged

"Fine"

He clapped and jumped like a little girl and then opened the door to let me in. We sat down in front of each other and he picked up his guitar.

"So" he said plucking the strings "I wrote a song, it's not about anything or anyone in particular, it's just lyrics, and I wanted to see your opinion about it"

"Okay"

He took a deep breath and started plucking the chords creating a beautiful melody

" Even when the sky is falling down
Even when the earth is crumbling 'round my feet

Even when we try to say goodbye
And you can cut the tension with a knife in here

'Cause I know what'll happen
If we get through this

And if the earth ends up crumbling down to its knees baby
We just gotta get out
We just gotta get out
And if the skyscrapers tumble down and crash around baby
We just gotta get out
We just gotta get out"

As he sang all I could see were his lips, how they moved as he sang and how he would occasionally lick them, I'd never noticed how kissable his lips were until now.

"'Cause I feel so damn lost
And it comes with a cost of being alone

Everything is falling down
We're suffering, helpless thoughts and
Out we sing, prayers go to the sky

And if the earth ends up crumbling down to its knees baby
We just gotta get out
We just gotta get out
Gotta get, gotta get, gotta get out
And if the skyscrapers tumble down and crash around baby
We just gotta get out
We just gotta get out

And if we fall
It's not your fault
Shadows covering
Our selfish foes
And as our love,
Can go out on a high note

Even when the sky is falling down
Even when the earth is crumbling 'round my feet
Around my feet

And if the earth ends up crumbling down to its knees baby
We just gotta get out
We just gotta get out
Gotta get, gotta get, gotta get out
And if the skyscrapers tumble down and crash around baby
We just gotta get out
We just gotta get out"

"So?" He looked up at me

"Oh my god" I breathed out "that was amazing"

"You really think so?"

"Of course I do! It's beautiful Luke"

"Thanks" he blushed. Then he looked at his watch and sighed "I should go now"

"Right. You should go"

He got up and hugged me tightly, I returned the hug breathing in the smell of his cologne. After a few seconds he pulled away but still kept his arms around my waist, he was looking at my face, his eyes wandering from my eyes to my lips.

He slowly leaned in and I found myself leaning in as well, soon I felt his soft lips against mine and the cold metal of his ring pressed against my lip. Luke slowly pulled away after a few seconds and he just looked me in the eyes, then he seemed to break out of his trance as he started clearing his throat.

"I...I I'm sorry" muttered softly "I have to go"

I just stood there like a fool, still not quite comprehending what had just happened. After a few seconds I heard the door close signalling luke had left. I had no idea what just happened, why in the world he would wanna kiss me, why I kissed him back or what this meant. I just knew I'd liked it.
