~Undyne feels fear?~

~♥~

After we finished our meal, I offered to clean the dishes. Papyrus refused to let me do so, since I was the guest but I somehow persuaded him that it was a 'thank you' for letting me stay here. After that, he gave up and returned to his room upstairs. Sans stayed downstairs to keep me company and to pop off some puns while Papyrus was out of the room.

Apparently, he hates it when Sans makes puns. Now he has 2 people to hate because I love making them as much as Sans does.

I cleaned the kitchen in no time at all, using my magic here and there to make things sparkle. Papyrus will appreciate this. He loves hard work. Something I heard Sans wasn't familiar with. But I like the lazy skeleton with a funny font for a name. It suits him.

He was staring at me again. I pretended I didn't notice. I didn't want to make it awkward again. I'm used to people staring at me. But with disgust, not with interest. So it was a nice change to have someone admire you, instead of having someone wanting nothing to do with you.

I clear my throat and he snaps out of his daze. I laugh as he blushes blue with embarrassment. He goes to apologize but I stop him before he can get a word out.

Me: "No need to apologize. I'm used to gawking stares."
Sans: "really? why is that?"

I hesitated to answer. That little voice in the back of my head was saying 'tell him people thought you were unnatural, a freak of nature. Try to get his sympathy, you attention whore!' I thought I drilled out that voice years ago.

Apparently not.

I clear my throat again and speak.

Me: "How many witches do you know that actually get admiration and praise instead of hate and disgust?"

I didn't mean to say it like that. In an unintentional 'why-are-you-asking-all-these-questions-get off-my-back' type way. He gave me a look as if my words and the way I said them had physically hurt him. I feel bad now.

Me: "Sorry. I didn't mean to say it like that."
Sans: "no it's fine. sorry for trying to dig into your past. Believe me, i know how uncomfortable it is to talk about a painful past experience."

My eyes turned to concern and curiosity. If he knows the feeling....what happened to him?

I was about to ask what he meant by that when I had to push Sans out of the way and jump back as a blue energy spear sailed past us and buried itself in the wall. I looked to the spear and then to the figure who threw it.

They stood tall, dressed to the teeth in shiny metal armor. They were as tall as Papyrus. I wasn't scared. tall people didn't intimidate me. Nothing intimidated me. I looked to Sans and he was picking himself up off the floor. He dusted himself off and turned to the figure.

Sans: "seriously, Undyne? that's the 5th time this month."

Undyne? Papyrus spoke of someone named Undyne. Captain of the Royal Guard, I believe he said.

Undyne takes off their helmet and makes it disappear. They then step into the light where I can see them better.

She's female. And a fish...type...person...monster...thing, with long red flowing hair, kind of like my own, and an eye-patch covering one of her yellow, cat-like eyes. Okay then. New surprises everyday.

Undyne: "Papyrus called me about a new person that fell into the underground. I automatically assumed it was another human. The last human we need."

She eyes me like I'm a meal and growls. If she's trying to make herself look intimidating, it's not working. For me at least. I'm sure others don't share my view point.

Instead of shaking and cowering in fear, like I'm sure she's expecting me to do, I start laughing. She's confused on what I'm finding humorous.

Me: "I knew I smelled something....FISHY."

Sans joins in my laughter while Undyne is growing angrier by the second.

Me: "Hate to break it to you, gills, but you won't find any humans here. You assumed wrong."
Undyne: "You look pretty human to me."

I then morphed into herself and watched her face change from anger to shock.

Me (As Undyne): "Know any humans who can change shape?"

She is motionless and speechless. She was so shocked that she dropped the energy spear that she was holding. She realized her jaw was on the ground so she cleared her throat and composed herself. The awkward silence was broken when Papyrus came out of his room, loud as ever.

Papyrus: "OH HELLO UNDYNE!! YOU CAME!!"

He stopped when he noticed 2 Undynes in the room. He looked between the real one and me constantly. He was about to ask which one was the real one when I transformed back into my original form. The confused look left his face and he looked to Undyne.

Undyne: "Papyrus, why didn't you tell me what she was over the phone? I wouldn't have made the trip over here if you had just told me she was just another monster."

Monster. The word echoed in my head and it irritated me. Yes, I was aware she was addressing the species that lived in this underground world and not calling me some hideous name. But I lived in an unforgiving world above this one all my life, where cruel names and harsh physical contact with various objects were how people got a kick out of things. They knew nothing of my past and the hardships I dealt with. Even if I was a powerful being, I'm not heartless and striving on power. People called me those cruel names all my life.

And I have had enough!

I take the spear out of the wall, feel the weight of it, and chunk it towards Undyne. She's quick to turn her attention away from Papyrus for the moment and catch the object hurdling towards her.

Everybody is looking at me now. I think they can feel the uncontrollable anger seething from me. Sans is even surprised at my change of heart. But, at the moment, I'm not worried at what the skeleton brothers are thinking of me right now.

My full attention is on the fish woman that calls herself Undyne. I smirk.

Me: "A monster am I?"

I take a step towards her. She doesn't move but I can feel her fear.

Me: "Let's see just how much of a monster I can really be."

I transform once again into a dark demon-like creature with red bat-like wings, curving black horns, pointy claws and teeth as sharp as freshly sharpened knives.

She steps back, a energy spear materializing in her hands. I have a grin so evil, I've paralyzed Papyrus with fear and Undyne is shaking in her armor.

I take another step towards her and she raises her spear to me.

I am about to take another step when Sans' voice breaks through to my conscious.

Sans: "Arissa....Leave. Her. Be."

I turned to him to tell him to stay out of this but the lights in his eyes were replaced with the pitch black darkness of his eye sockets. When he spoke, his tone was stern and serious. To be honest, it scared me. He didn't have to transform into some dark demon to strike fear into my heart and it sent a chill up my spine.

I let out a sigh and transformed back into my human like form. I apologize to Undyne and hope there is a way I can make it up to her. Even I knew I had no right to act that way towards her. She waves off the apology and actually smiles. As if I didn't scare her half to death. She says she wants us to hang out sometime and departs.

After she leaves, Papyrus runs up to his room as quick as I've seen anyone move. Before he left, I could see tears spring forth to the corner of his eye sockets. I guess he was waiting for Undyne to leave so she couldn't see how weak he was.

I did that. I scared the living hell out of him. And I feel terrible.

I turn to Sans. The lights in his eye sockets are still not there. Instead, his right eye is glowing with a blue flame and his usual permanent smile was turned down somehow.

He was pissed. And he had every right to be.
