~My Horror Story~

~Warning: May contain saddening scenes, depressing moments, blood and feels. You've been warned.~

Age 2

I crawled around on the cold tile floor, chasing after a bright red bouncy ball my mother had so kindly given me to play with. She laughed as her small, fragile little girl scooted around on the floor with the biggest smile on her sweet little girl's face.

My mother, besides being the most powerful being on the planet, was a very talented scientist. There was not one type of science she didn't know. Biology, chemistry, even psychiatry. At this point in time, monsters and humans coexisted on the surface. They didn't necessarily like each others company but we had a treaty so as long as that was still intact, they were just going to have to live with what the law says.

And even though monsters and humans didn't get along, everyone heard about my mothers scientific talents. No matter what the species, they would come to her if they were hurting. Sometimes, they'd bring their children to play with her daughter. They were careful with her since she was just a baby.

Her mother got to her feet when she heard the door to her lab open. She took on a stern look at the presence in the room. Me, being 2 years old, was oblivious to the situation. The person cocked back the little hammer on his silver revolver and aimed it at my mother. She didn't even flinch except to ask him to kindly leave. He didn't move.

Instead, he smirked and aimed the gun at me. Her face contorted with fear and she almost started sprinting forward. It was too late. He fired and it went straight through my shoulder. I screamed out and fell to the ground bawling, blood spilling to the floor. In a fit of rage, my mother picked him up with her magic and and threw him out the window.

She rushed over to me, her lab coat flailing. She picked up her small child and brought her over to a table. She set down the weeping girl and used her healing abilities. The bullet came out and the hole and anything internally damaged sealed up and was good as new. She picked up her daughter once more, wiped the tears away and sung to her baby, rocking her back and forth. The bullet was pure silver. Fatally painful to any mystical beings.

My mother knew this would happen. Just not so soon.

Age 5

I sat at the window of my house, reading the joke book that my mom got me for my birthday. She always said I liked a good joke. And she wasn't lying. I laughed more than I should have at one and my mom asked which one it was.

Me: "Knock Knock!
Mom: "Who's there?"
Me: "Adore."
Mom: "Adore who?"
Mom: "Adore is between us. Open up!"

We both broke into laughter. Then it started into a joke war and then a pun war. I was the inevitable victor. My mom was the pun master but I had bested her at her own game. She gives up and walks back into the kitchen. I read a few more jokes and laugh at some good ones.

A few minutes later, she come out with a slip of paper in her hand. I close my book and she asks me to go down to the store and pick up some ingredients for dinner and dessert. I nod vigorously and skip out of the house. I greet people as I pass and they just wave away my greeting. I didn't really mind.

I get all the stuff my mom put on the list, pay and leave. As I'm walking home, the neighborhood kids come up to me. I smile at them and greet them.

Kid 1: "Hey puny! Got a snack for me?"
Me: "Sorry guys. My mom needs these to make dinner tonight. And she's making my favorite dessert. Key lime pie."
Kid 2: "Ew! That sounds icky! Kinda like you."
Me: "No, it's really good. I can have my mom give yours the recipe and then you can try it for yourself."
Kid 3: "We don't want to eat anything that comes from YOUR mom."
