chapter 23: Leave him alone.

Lucas-"Hey Jerome!" (he walked slow but angrily towards him)

Jerome-"yeah?" (he said confused and a bit scared)

Lucas-"Tell me something, I heard a little rumor going about saying you asked Uma to the dance, is that true? (Jerome closed his locker and answered the question)

Jerome-"yeah" (Lucas got mad and pinned Jerome against the locker)

*mean while Uma made it to the floor they were on and Joy saw her running*

Joy-"Uma, slow down! can I show you something?"(wanting to show her the note)

Uma-"I can't! Not right now! (she screams still running) Lucas is about to hurt Jerome!!!" (Joy put the note in her bag and started running and followed Uma)

Lucas-"Okay, why did you ask her?"

Jerome-(he got scared but answered honestly) "well it's not like you were going to, remember your going with "miss superstar" over there?" (he point to Raven)

Lucas-"Yeah I remember, and do you remember the I'm on the football team and your not" (he makes a serious face)

Uma-(uma makes it to where there at but doesn't intervene. Joy comes in seconds later and was stopped by Uma) "stop, stop" (she whispered to Joy)

Joy-"What do you think your doing, Lucas is about to hit Jerome!"

Uma-"know he won't, he'll make the right choice. I know he won't hurt him.

Lucas-"Yeah I remember, but I have my reasons, your just going with her"

Jerome-"Well you might want to try and explained them to her because she seems pretty mad."

Uma-"Come on don't hit him" (she whispers to herself)

Lucas-"And you really need to learn not to run your mouth so much" (he punches his stomach hard but not hard enough to injure him. Jerome falls slowly to the ground, kind of sitting up against the locker)

Joy-"See I told you Uma! (she ran towards Jerome and bent down.) Jerome are you hurt?" (she spoke worried that he might have broken something)

Jerome-"Nope, Can't get up." (he tried getting off the floor but the pain was still there.)

Joy-(she stood and faced Lucas dead in the eye) "Your so awful you know that, right Lucas?" you hurt one of your best friends and for what a girl that isn't going to the dance with you because your going with someone else. Where is the sense i. All of this? And You!! (she looked over Lucas' shoulder and started talking to Uma) your ex boyfriend, or what ever he is just hit your friend (Lucas turns and see Uma and starts to worry) and your just standing there acting like everything's okay. I mean who are you people?"

Uma-"Your right Joy, this isn't me. (Uma walked up to Lucas super mad and boom she slapped him right across his face) Leave him alone Lucas. It's because of you I'm going with him any way. If you didn't news up so badly and asked me we could be going together to dance!"

Lucas-(he's still shocked she hit him) "I- I'm sorry Uma. I didn't mean for any of this to happen."

Uma-"Oh really! Because you had the choice to hit him or not. And whether to approach about how you feel about it. Now I'm going to give you another choice (Raven begins to move so Lucas can see her) and it's all on what you pick. Will you go to the dance with Lucas Sky or will you still go with Raven?"

Lucas-"I-(for a second he was about to say yes, then he saw Raven and remembered what he did) I can't go with you Uma. I'm sorry" (he meant it)

Uma-"I am too." (she bends down and helps Jerome up with joy on the other side of him. They begin walking towards the for to leave and Raven Walks up to Lucas)

Raven- ( she talks low)"Good choice Lucas, you wouldn't want it getting out" (Lucas looked down disappointedly shook his head then walked away slowly in the opposite direction )

Harry-"hey what was that about?"

Raven-"what was what about?"

Harry-"you know between you and Lucas just now"

Raven-(remembering she didn't tell Harry about what went on between them she told a lie) "nothing went on between us (she covered it up well) I was. Just comforting a friend (she placed her right hand over her heart and made a sad face)

Harry-"oh, okay, if you say so." (Raven makes a smirk and acts in belief)

Raven-"That's right, well I've got to go. (she smiles then kisses him on the cheek and leaves. Harry looks back as she walks out)

*Uma, Joy and Jerome all end up at Joy places where they placed Jerome on the sofa so he could lay down and rest. Uma sat down to read a book while watching Jerome, while Joy was in the kitchen. After Joy gets him something to eat and a nice soft beverage Jerome finally sits up and Uma looks up from her book in concern. She continues to feel sorry for what had happened. She finally spoke.*

Uma-"Jerome are you sure your okay?"

Jerome-"Yeah, it's not like I was beat up, I just got a punch to the stomach for the first time"

Uma-"I feel really sorry Jerome, if i had stopped him earlier then-"(she was interrupted)

Jerome-"Then what? This may not have happened?(a moment of silence happened when Uma put her head down) Uma, things happen for a reason. It may have not happened today if you intervened but who's to say it wouldn't have happened the next day, or the day after that....Look I'm just saying Uma, don't blame yourself for an act that you couldn't control."

*It was dead in the room and about 2 hours later Uma had to leave. Joy had called Jerome' parents to ask if he could stay the night and they agreed. And so did Joy' parents. Joy helped Jerome up to her room where he'll be sleeping. She set him on the bed and told him to make himself at home. Joy went into the closet to go change into her pj's. Jerome couldn't help but want to look through the slightly open closet door but he held back and just sat down with his feet under the covers and leaned against the bed bored. Joy came out of her closet and was about to walk out of the room when...*
