take a picture, they said.

"lets take a picture!!"

it rang around in the back of his mind, through his brain as a tear slipped from his eye. he slid down the wall and shivered as he pulled his knees to his chest, gripping the photograph in his other hand.

their laughter echoed around the room it seemed, as the area grew brighter. he could see them, together, that day in the field on the picnic..

"Trancy..?" Ciel looked over to him awkwardly, playing with the ribbon on his shoe. "What's up, Ciel? cat caught your tongue?"

Ciel shook his head and smiled softly, and Alois just looked over to him fondly. "Would you marry me, do you think?" Ciel said suddenly, running his hand through his hair as he set the picnic basket aside to lay down and look up at the clouds.

Alois followed suit, fixing his hands behind his head and staring blankly into the sky. "In a heartbeat, you know I would." Ciel put his hand on the blanket in between them and Alois took the hint, bringing his down as well and intertwining their fingers. Ciel smiled and let out a little breath as he looked beside him. "You're the best thing thats ever happened to me, you know that right?"

Alois punched the wall beside him to get the memory out of his vision, tears blurring the scene soon after. "he's a liar.." he sobbed as he gripped the photograph tighter, his hand shaking as it crumpled in his fingers. "a damn liar..." he sniffled.

"you're the best thing thats ever happened to me..."

he sucked in a breath and put the photograph down, shivering again and wrapping both his arms around his legs, sinking into his sadness on the floor in the corner of his room. this was bullshit, this always happened, everyone always left him and he was always just...

alone.

"i'll always love you, Trancy.."

He heard ciel's voice this time, in the back of his head. always.. always... always....

"Always? you're sure about that Phantomhive? ME?" Alois replied jokingly. they were walking down the street to get sweets from the shop. their favourite. "100%, i couldnt love anyone else. there's no one like you." Alois blushed and looked away, hiding his face behind his hand. "You're beautiful, you know. every word you say could be put into a poem, your personality shines like a star..." Alois began. Ciel just grabbed his free hand and slipped a ring onto his finger, kissing the top before letting it fall in between them. "its a promise. to me, i mean. a promise of forever." Alois smiled widely and looked beside him. "I'll always love you as well, Phantomhive."

"Good. im glad."

"always is valueless," he started, tightening his hands and shaking with anger.

"i wish i never heard him speak a damn word to me!" he sobbed, curling up again. he wished he could change it, all to when they started, when it was harmless and fun...

"i cant believe you.."

"i cant believe this! why would you do that!" Alois shouted, dragging ciel by the collar into the next room. Ciel shrugged and wiped off his lip. "i dont see the harm, he just wanted to feed me some cake-"

"did you SEE the way he was looking at you? He was SO CLOSE! how could you have let that happen?" Alois spat harshly. He knew claude hated him, but not enough to go after his boyfriend!

"it isnt like i would have! or do you think that lowly of me?" Ciel snarked back, freeing himself of Alois's grip. "i-i.. it isnt that, its just--"

"no, it is, isnt it? i cant believe-- im done for today. i'll see you later or something," he said calmly, anger underlying his words as he up and left.

Alois could only stay there in the hallway as he sunk to his knees and covered his mouth to stop the sound of the sobbing.

"they always leave.."

"i wont, promise!"

no... stop, no more...

"i could never leave you, Alois Trancy, you're the light of my life!"

"but then why... why with sebastian? was i not enough?" he whimpered looking up from his lap, biting back another sob at the sight. walking in on your lover fucking someone else is... he couldnt relive that. he felt like he was going to gag.

"I CANT BELIEVE YOU!" it rang though the halls of the house, everyone within a mile could hear, probably.

Ciel winced under Alois's yell. "i-i"

"You WHAT, ciel, you WHAT? it was an accident? did your ass fall on his dick? did you not mean to? it didnt LOOK forced, YOU WERE BEGGING FOR IT! i HEARD you!" tears streaking down his face as he shouted in blind rage.

"A-alois, please--"

"no.. no. not a word. take it back, take it back.." he mumbled as he gripped at the ring on his finger and threw it at him. he heard it hit the floor and roll to a stop before toppling over. "dont do this.. trancy, i love you, you're the only one worth my time and effort-"

"if i was worth that, you'd have given it too me," he choked, holding onto his chest.

"i dont believe it.." he whispered, banging his head against the wall, the memory fading from his sight as the tears streamed down his face. "bullshit, bullshit, bullshit...."

"i love you--"

"no, you dont," he said back to no one.

"trancy, please--"

"its a lie. they always lie."

"i'd never--"

"ive always been alone. it'll always be like this.."

"youre wrong-"

"BUT IM NOT, AM I?" he yelled, and it stopped. "im not.. he breathed shakily. "not special, not different.. not... not worth it..."

he looked down at the photograph, and concentrated hard. "take me back.. back to then, please.. take me back, take me back, take me back.."

but it was just a photograph. it couldnt, and it wouldnt, because the world didnt work like that. so he dropped the polaroid on the ground once more and curled up again, sniffling more as his silent sobs echoed throughout the room.

"take a picture, they said.. it'll last longer..."

he clicked his tongue as he buried his face more into his knees, letting out a muffled, shaking sigh.
