Daniel's POV
With a gentle smile from the head misstres and a short nod from mister Chiron I was brought to the administration office. They had made me a guide and I had watched with glee how a few grass leaves turned into a small green fluttering bird.
I almost couldn't contain my giddiness when I recognized a few creatures as goblins. I've never seen goblins before! Unfortunately I couldn't ogle at the monsters for too long since my guide, the little grass bird, was already at the end of the corridor. The enchanted grass was pretty quick and didn't exactly wait for me, making me stumble and run a bit before catching up. Walking is a surprisingly hard thing to do.
When I arrived at the desk of the administration I was a bit confused. The man behind the desk looked human but he smelled.. different. I shouldn't be suprised because the head mistress looked human too. But I couldn't quite put my finger on it until I heard him chuckle and he looked up at me from his chair.
"You must be our new student, right? And judging from the look on your adorable little face I take it you're a bit confused?", I nodded my head, I felt incredibly rude! Of course everything would be different on 'dry land', but just because I didn't know what someone was, or if I saw something for the first time I shouldn't stare.
"It's okay, I'm a warlock. I'll be the closest thing to a human you'll find in this academy. Although I've actually got a tail and webbed toes. You're not used to monsters in human form are you? Where are you from again?", I got a bit red in the face but I quickly answered.
"I'm from France, uhm well the Atlantic in front of France. I'm a merman. So we don't uhm see a lot of different monsters.. you know living in the deep and all that", i trailed off my sentence and ran a hand through my hair. The man smiled and said that it was fine and that I would get used to it in no time.
I nodded and gave the warlock a small smile in return. He gave me a locker key and I also received my schedule. The only classes that were left for today were history and math, well okay then, now I only need to find out were the class is.

I've been walking around for ten minutes without finding so much as the right corridor! I'm completely lost! I sighed. Let's just ask somebody and try not to look like too much of a guppy. I lookedat my surroundings and found a group of people who looked like they wouldn't laugh at me for asking directions, or more like wouldn't laugh at anything, they were kind of stoic. I gathered my courage and quickly shuffled closer before I could back out on myself.
I was just a few steps apart from the little clique and I felt my courage slip away with each step closer to the group of, well.. they aren't human I know that much. I looked at them a bit better and I think they're vampires; they're kinda pale, they look very.. dead, wearing a lot of leather especially for it being spring. Plus they look like they're all from Eastern Europe. Yup those are vampires alright.
I was so lost in my thoughts that that I hadn't noticed them staring at me until one of them cleared his throat. I snapped out of my daze and turned completely red before sputtering out that I was lost and if they could please please please help me out.
After an agonizing minute of them figuring out what I had actually asked, a few of them cracked a smile showing off their very sharp very long incisors. They quickly showed that they were in fact very friendly and I ended up talking to a girl, it turns out that they really are vampires, I was right! And they're really nice ones as well.
After a few minutes of me introducing myself and them helping me figure everything out the bell rang and cut our conversation short. One of the girl offered to bring me to class so I thanked the rest and followed the vampire girl to class. Turns out I'm just very much clueless as it comes to directions and I had passed the class at least a dozen times already.
I thanked the girl and stepped inside. A few people were already there, so I took a deep calming breath and walked towards the teacher. I noticed how the people who were already here were all staring me but I just tried to smile and act like I knew what I was doing. I mean, I am new so I guess staring is just the normal reaction.
I focused my attention on the teacher, mister Todd who coincidentally looked a bit like a toad, I may or may not have fought the urge to laugh at the thought. I ended up composing myself well enough as I went to introduce myself.
