Mackenzie locked herself in the bathroom stall. Abby's harmful words were still echoing through her head. Sister... winning number.. not good...
"Mackenzie?" a small voice said. Mackenzie realized it at once. It was Brynn. She opened the door and fell into her best friend's embrace and sobbed into her shoulder. "Miss Abby is a terrible person. You and Maddie are two different people. Don't let this get to you, okay? You're just as good as Maddie!" Brynn said. "You're right. Why do I care so much and why do I even try?" cried Mackenzie. She wiped the tears off her face and looked at herself in the mirror. "I'm Mackenzie Ziegler. Not Maddie Ziegler." Brynn smiled at her confidently. "You tell yourself, Kenzie! Go girl!" Mackenzie and Brynn smiled at each other as Melissa, Kalani, and JoJo entered. "Kenz, are you okay?" asked Kalani with concern in her voice. "I'm fine. Because I'm not Maddie, and I'm happy for being me." Melissa smiled at her daughter. "Don't let her upset you, Kenz." JoJo put her arm around Mackenzie. "Yeah, we love Mackenzie! Don't listen to her." Mackenzie wiped her tears again and smiled at all her friends. "I love you guys." The four friends embraced. "So, are you ready to show Abby what you're made of?" asked Melissa. "I want to try my solo again," Mackenzie decided.
Mackenzie entered the room to a disgruntled Abby. "Save your tears for the pillow!" she growled. "Miss Abby, I'm sorry. I want to try my solo again."
As the music played, Mackenzie danced like herself. She did her own expressions and own techniques of dance. Not Maddie's. "Mackenzie, that was good!" said Abby in satisfactory as the music came to a stop. "Just work on your leaps some more, and your facial expressions just a bit. I think you've got it!" Mackenzie high - fived Abby and went to sit with her friends. She was going to ace this dance!
