Mackenzie woke up at seven o'clock, but she wasn't feeling well.  Her throat hurt and she felt cold.  "Mommm!" Mackenzie groaned.  Melissa came over to her bed.  "Kenz, you look sick," she observed. Melissa checked her temperature, and she was indeed sick with a fever.  Mackenzie coughed forcefully.  "Kenz, today is competition day! You can't be sick!"  Mackenzie sighed.  "I know Mom... just let me get some rest.."  Melissa was worried.  "Kenz, you can't.  The competition starts in an hour.  You have to get up."  Mackenzie closed her eyes.  "I can't go.."  Mackenzie was disappointed in herself.  Why did she have to get sick now?  Melissa decided her daughter couldn't go to the competition like this, and texted a fuming Abby.  "Tell Abby I'm sorry," said Mackenzie from her bed.  "I just wanted to prove her wrong."  Melissa got tears in her eyes when Mackenzie said this.  She knew how much pressure her daughter was under, and Abby didn't appreciate her as much as Maddie.  "It's okay, honey, there will be other competitions!" Melissa shouted.  Mackenzie felt tears form in her eyes, but she couldn't cry now.  Her mom was right..

"Maddie!" Melissa shouted.  "Yeah, Mom?" asked Maddie.  She was ready to leave.  "Your sister isn't feeling well, so Abby said you can do her solo.  "That's great!" said Maddie happily.  "Miss Abby taught me the whole routine just in case. Kenz, I'll win for you!"  Mackenzie sighed.  "Okay.  Good luck, Mads." Maddie smiled at her sister.  "One more trophy for me!" she muttered.  "Get better, Kenzie, love you." Mackenzie closed her eyes and went to sleep.
