Mackenzie woke up in a few hours to a car pulling in her driveway. "They're home," she thought to herself. "Oh God, I hope Maddie didn't win!" she mumbled. Mackenzie got out of bed and made her way to the kitchen. She poured herself a cool glass of water just as Maddie and Melissa came in. "KENZIE, I WON FOR YOU!" shouted Maddie. Mackenzie choked on her water and spit it out. "W-What?" she stammered. "Yeah, I won!" Mackenzie stared at the golden trophy in her hands and felt a surge of anger and jealousy. "Abby was so proud of you!" Melissa gushed. "Oh... good job," Mackenzie said in a hoarse voice. She walked up to her room and fell on her bed. She put her head on the pillow and began to cry. "Of course, Maddie always wins! She always gets the spotlight, why not me? I needed this solo!" Mackenzie thought angrily. She pictured herself winning the trophy... her mom crying... Abby laughing and clapping... Maddie being jealous of her! "Wow... I wish dreams could be reality," Mackenzie whispered to herself.
