The day had been mostly uneventful. Ariel and Lizzie had a bit of a hard time trying to get Anubis and Zwei to stay upstairs. After a few tries they finally did though. They put them in their rooms and told them to sleep. Ariel did her normal cleaning around the shop and helped make arrangements for a few customers. Lizzie had done the flower arrangements and polished the coffins after cleaning the cobwebs. Adrian had come out a few times today between autopsies to have lunch or just chat with the two. He was back to his normal habit of trying to scare them by whatever means he could think of.
Not long after lunch Ariel went up to go check on the hounds and bring them something to eat. Zwei was sleeping by the window in Lizzie's room so she put his food just inside the door and then went to hers. Opening the door she was tackled by Anubis as he cuddled up to her. She laughed and began petting him as she tried to sit up and push him off. Finally able to get up, Ariel looked around for where his food had gone. The force from him hitting her had caused his food to fly out of her hand. "Now where did your food fly off to?" She mumbled looking around. She saw it a moment later lying by the front of the door. She pushed Anubis in and closed the door as he started to eat.
Walking back downstairs she noticed Adrian walking out the door. "Where is he running off to?" She asked giving her friend a questioning look. "He said something about needing to go out and get something." Lizzie replied looking over at Ariel. "I wonder what it was he needed to get so badly." Ariel said going over and sitting down behind Adrian's desk. "I'm not sure; he did mention ninny had told him about something. So maybe he went to go get that, whatever it is." Lizzie said sitting down on a coffin next to the desk. "Well now what do we do? It is almost closing time and all of our other chores are done." Ariel asked putting her elbows on the desk and leaning her head in her hands. "Well we could always close up a bit early. We never did get a chance to go to the glen the other day." Lizzie suggested leaning herself against the desk.
Ariel thought it over for a moment before responding. "Well we could do that, but it will be dark in an hour and we can't run while in the city here. We would never make it back in time." Ariel said giving a sigh. "That really stinks I want to go to the glen and see how it is. Maybe we can ask Adrian if we can go tomorrow and have the day off." Lizzie said sitting up and giving a hopeful look. "Well I guess I don't see the harm in asking him about it. We might not be able to though since those two lords are supposed to be coming back to smooth things over with us." "Ugh do they have to come back? The one I don't have a problem with but peacock was too much to handle." Lizzie said giving a look of disgust, "Just use your new found influence on Adrian and convince him to just let us leave before they come." She finished giving Ariel a grin. "Oh shut up Liz, I would not do that unless there was no other way to get out of something. We have other options still." Ariel replied giving her friend a small glare.
Lizzie put up her hands in front of her and waved them as if in surrender. "Fine have it your way. If they start problems with us however just you remember you could have avoided it." "Yeah sure I'll keep that in mind if it happens." Ariel said getting up and switching the open sign to close. "Well now that we are closed let's let the boys out and go start cooking." Ariel said. "Fine with me, we should probably take them with us tomorrow too. They will need the run after being stuck in here all day." Lizzie said getting up and heading up stairs. "Hey Liz, I just got an evil idea. I think I'm going to lock the door on Adrian." Ariel giggled and locked the door turning around to head up the stairs. "You know he doesn't have his keys on him right? He wouldn't be able to get in unless we let him in." Lizzie said raising her eyebrow at her friend. "Yeah I know, I just figure he likes to play jokes on us all the time, why not do one on him for a change." Lizzie sighed as she kept walking up the stairs. "Fine then but he better let us go still."
With that Ariel went upstairs giggling to herself as she went into her room to let Anubis out. She found him curled up by her coffin sleeping peacefully. "Awe he is so cute when he sleeps. I'll just let him be for a little while." She said with a smile on her face. Leaving the door opened enough for him to get out of; she walked over to the kitchen and began cooking. Lizzie stayed in her room playing with Zwei. Once the food was done Ariel called her out and then she went downstairs. She was surprised she hadn't heard the door yet. Wherever he had gone must have taken him a long time to get there and back. She decided to light a candle and sit at Adrian's desk to wait for him.
