Severus Snape was pissed.
He wasn’t exactly angry, and he wasn’t quite peeved, but he was pissed.
He couldn’t deny that he was shocked at Selena’s act of heroism, but she certainly hadn’t done it just for him – if she would’ve, then she would’ve allowed him to attack Black back, not disarmed him and made him walk away.
However, no matter how upset he was, he couldn’t help but feel that bit of him that felt even slightly grateful for her – regardless of the fact that she was a girl, and he could’ve handled it fine on his own…
Storming through the halls, he did nothing to try to hide his scowl, and every student within his vicinity made sure to steer clear of him when they spotted his foul mood. He couldn’t let the sudden resentment take over; he still had to win her over to his side, and in order to do that, he needed to win her trust.
The dreams he implanted in her brain seemed to help, but it wasn’t enough, and certainly wasn’t acting quickly enough. Not to mention his plans to have her partnered with him in Potions didn’t seem to win her over… but he was pleased that he was able to emit emotions from her other than anger.
He just had to come up with a better scheme… a scheme that met her inner standards… something that would draw her to him, no matter what…
And then he smirked; he knew exactly the thing.

“I’m sorry.”
Selena blinked. Was this supposed to be some replay of her dreams, or was this just a huge coincidence?
Severus stood before her, his body inches from her own, and leaning casually against the tree she was standing beside. In this moment, he was glad that Marcy had slipped away sometime earlier, leaving his target alone.
“Sorry?” Selena repeated, drawing a blank. “I’m sorry,” she chuckled, amused. “But Severus Snape – sorry? I don’t believe it.”
She moved to walk around him, but just like that, she was stopped. His arm was extended, cutting across her torso and physically cutting her off. Squaring her jaw, she turned towards him, fighting off a glare.
“What do you want from me?” she questioned, clearly passed annoyed. “What is it you want? You’re sorry? Good! Then leave me alone!”
His hand touched her shoulder, and with surprising force, she was flung around so that her back was pressed tight against the tree, leaving little space between the two. Though she wanted to move – and she could’ve tried – she didn’t.
His black eyes pierced her light ones.
“I offered you help in your studies,” he began, voice soft, and even timid, but she still knew better. “You intrigue me. I’m sorry if that answer doesn’t squander your hopes of me being some horrid monster, but it’s true.”
“You’re a Slytherin,” she accused, the statement now feeling weak. “Give me one good reason for me to believe that you’re not like the rest.”
“Have I harmed you?”
She bit the inside of her cheek, but didn’t answer. No, he hasn’t ever hurt her, but that didn’t make her trust him.
“Give me one chance,” he whispered, in a gentle plea. “Just one chance, and if I blow everything, then you can ignore me all you want and I swear I will never bother you ever again.”
She gazed up into his black orbs, hesitating.
“I can’t do that,” she whispered.
“Why?”
