So, basically, I think Ben Barnes makes a perfect Severus Snape. No idea why - apparently a lot of people think he makes a good Sirius Black? Nah. My opinion: Severus Snape. There's something about Alec Hopkins that I simply don't like. For the longest time I've been looking for the perfect young Snape, and after watching Dorian Gray (pretty decent movie, by the way) I knew my mind was made up. Ben Barnes = WINNER.

The noise was soft, the early morning equaling very few students up for breakfast. Along the Ravenclaw table, two girls were settled, neither one touching their food, and their minds easily preoccupied. Selena knew it was time to confess her recent findings to her friend, but not knowing how, she found her words simply slipping out.

“I’ve been teaching Severus how to do the Patronus charm,” Selena began softly, and when Marcy said nothing, she continued. “It seems that he doesn’t have any good memories to supply the charm with.”

“He doesn’t have any good memories?” Marcy gasped.

Selena sighed softly, and shook her head in declination, tapping her nails against the Ravenclaw table as they waited patiently for Matthew to greet them. Marcy eyed her friend in an almost solemn way, her lips turned down in a frown, and feeling sympathy – for once – towards the Slytherin boy.

“How can he… how can he not have one, though?” Marcy whispered, concerned. “Surely he must be lying?” she suggested lightly.

“I hardly think so,” Selena said, eyeing her friend once more. “Why on Earth would he lie about something that would purposely make him vulnerable? It’s not like him. Even him telling me… you must promise you won’t again mention a word of this – not even to Matthew!”

“I swear,” Marcy whispered, shocked by Selena’s strong loyalty. “How much do you like him, exactly? You’ve been spending much more time with him as of late, and I’m almost… concerned for you.”

“Has he proven to be much of a threat?” a small smile played at the edge of Selena’s lips, but she kept her eyes away, refusing to meet Marcy’s inquisitive stare. “I’ve learned that there’s much more to Severus Snape than his intimidating front let’s on. He’s much deeper than that.”

“Selena…” Marcy hesitated. “I really think you should –“

The girl was interrupted by the sound of a large flock of girls entering the Great Hall. Their voices were loud, echoing off the walls and making every head in the room turn towards the sound. A group of Ravenclaw students were gushing over a boy who was walking in, a broad grin on his face, and beautiful eyes locking onto one girl in particular.

“Hey, Marcy!” Matthew greeted.

He looked completely refreshed. His dark hair was lustrous, his bright eyes shining and wide with wakefulness. His skin was no longer a pale shade, but held much more radiance, and his body moved as if he had been loaded with enough carbs to do him for a week.

“Matthew,” Marcy flushed as she flashed him a tender smile, and the red deepened further upon noticing that he was heading straight in their direction. As Matthew shooed the group of girls away, Selena had to take a long sip of her pumpkin juice in order to hide her grin from view, but neither of the two seemed to notice.

“I’ll just…” Selena began teasingly. “…Go get my books.” As she passed by Matthew, she gave him a sharp clap on his shoulder, and a happy: “Welcome back, champ,” before continuing on through the doors, and towards the staircase.
