“He kissed me,” Selena stated, and fell back on her bed, smiling dreamily. “Severus Snape – kissed me!”

Marcy shook her head, but smiled, nonetheless.

“So I’ve seen,” Marcy rolled her eyes. “Now, get to the good part! How did it happen?!”

“Well, in The Three Broomsticks –“

“He kissed you before I found you?!” Marcy asked, amazed. “He must really like you. I mean, I have to admit, kissing you while out of the school sounds much more romantic than in the halls… who knew he had it in him?”

“I can’t believe it…” Selena sighed happily. “I think my life is complete.”

“And you thought it wasn’t a date,” Marcy smirked slyly. “Bet he surprised you when he bought you the gift.”

“Yes,” Selena nodded. “I definitely wasn’t expecting that.”

“What is it?” Marcy perched herself on Selena’s bed, eyeing the bag from Honeydukes curiously. “Don’t tell me it’s Chocolate Frogs…” Marcy eyed her friend warningly, but when Selena began to blush, Marcy could only sigh loudly and roll her eyes. “At least he knows your taste.”

“I was eyeing them long enough,” Selena muttered. “Still, it was very kind of him. He even bought me a Butterbeer! But, then…” Selena hesitated.

“But, then…? What woman?! Stop leaving me hanging!”

“Severus spotted Avery. He made me hide, and then Avery saw Severus and came over. Soon after he figured out that I was underneath the table, and we had a little… quarrel…”

Marcy’s face was blanching at the news, and it was clear that if she didn’t think Avery was horrible before, that it was clearly beginning to settle in now.

“Severus stood up for me, and he…” Selena took a deep breath. “…He threw Avery into some tables, and then Avery left. Severus and I talked a little… and then… he kissed me.”

“If I didn’t know any better, I’d say he was trying to protect you,” Marcy pondered aloud, face lighting up into a radiant smile, before dropping just as quickly into a frown. “However, still, that was a terrible turn of events. Why did Avery want to pick a fight so bad? And what was he even doing there?”

“I don’t know,” Selena frowned, shaking her head.

“It’s like… like he knows where you are at all times, or something.”

“Or Severus,” Selena added, eyes narrowing suspiciously towards her sheets below her. “Do you think…”

“What? That Severus is telling Avery where he goes?”

“Yes,” Selena nodded.

“It’s a fair assumption,” Marcy agreed, giving a small shrug of agreement. “However, you’re missing the main picture.”

“Which is?”

“Severus threw Avery into some tables. Does that sound like someone who told Avery of his whereabouts? Or more like someone who was trying to avoid him, but ended up getting found?” Marcy asked, giving her friend a small smile. “Severus likes you, that much I can tell. After all, he was a very fair shade of pink when he was running away from you. Any other boy would’ve been cocky about it.”

“And why would you think that...?”

“Look at you!” Marcy winked. “You’re a woman today! Not some schoolgirl… you freshen up quite nicely, by the way. You should do that more often.”
