The phone rang. "Derek?!" Garcia cried. "No, it's me," JJ said on the other line. "Is everything ok?" Garcia asked urgently. "Garcia... It's Derek..." Garcia's stomach dropped. She could feel her heart stop beating for a minute. "W-w-what happened," Garcia managed to say, her eyes filling with tears. "He's been shot Penelope. It's bad," JJ said. "I'm coming out there. I'll find a way," Garcia said and hung up.

She couldn't find any other way so she got into her car and was on her way. Garcia couldn't feel anything. All she knew was that she had to get to Derek. "This is not happening. This can't be happening. This is not happening," Garcia recited to herself aloud in the empty car. She couldn't live without him. She wouldn't be able to live if he died. She didn't even know what to feel. She had experienced plenty of sadness in her life, but she hadn't experienced this kind of emptiness since her parent death so many years ago. "No, he's not dead, he is NOT going to die," Garcia said, almost yelling. She drove faster than she ever had before, even though she knew she should not be because her eyes were filled with tears. She didn't even notice she was crying until she was having trouble seeing the road. She wiped the water off her face and kept going.

Garcia ran into JJs arms. "Where is he. I need to see Derek, I need to see him right now," Garcia said, looking around desperately for a sign of hope, a smiling face. "He's in surgery right now. We haven't heard anything for about an hour. I'm going to bug the nurse at the desk until I get some info," JJ said. She wrapped Garcia in a big hug and lead her over to a chair next to where Reid was sitting, and sat her down. "I'll be right back," she said and turned and walked away. Garcia sat silently for 10 minutes, just feeling empty. Finally she turned to Reid and said, "This is all my fault. I gave him the address, I should have told him not to go in, I should have done something." Reid lifted his head from his hands, and Garcia looked at his face. He looked almost as bad as she did, eyes swollen and empty looking. "I should have been with him. But really, you know Derek, no one could have stopped him. He's too hard-headed for that," Reid said as he dropped his head and closed his eyes, with a tiny smile, thinking of Morgan's personality. Garcia showed a little smile and said, "Yeah, he would to anything to save someone else. What exactly happened, Reid?" "He was in the house, and it was dark, when the unsub, Ryan Lisser, shot him in the back. I'm not sure where, could've been in his neck, could've hit his spine. Morgan managed to fire a shot that disabled the unsub. We found him and Ryan laying there. Derek was barely responsive, he lost a lot of blood. I'm really worried, Garcia. For once in my life, I don't know what's gonna happen." Garcia was about to say something when the door opened and JJ walked in. "Guys..."
