Beep...Beep...Beep... The machines were the first thing Derek heard when he opened his eye. "Where am I?" he thought. He lifted his head slowly off his pillow and all the pain came rushing in like a bolt of never ending lightening. He tried to move, but it hurt too much. He heard light breaths coming from his side, and realized someone had their hand on his. He looked down and saw that blonde hair that he loved so much. "Hey, shouldn't you be working?" Derek said and brushed Garcias hair off of her sleeping face, resting on the side of the bed. She opened her eyes slowly and when she saw his beautiful eyes, she was ecstatic. "Derek!!" She cried and he face lit up. "Oh, I've missed you so much," she said and went in for a hug but jerked back when she realized she could be hurting him. "It's worth the pain, baby girl," Derek said as he wrapped his non-wired arm around Garcia and pulled her back in. "What the hell happened?" he groaned as he sat up farther and Reid poked his head in the door. "Heyyyy! Look who decided to wake up!" He said as he walked in and sat down, followed by Rossi, Hotch, JJ and Prentiss. As they all flooded into the room, Morgan smiled. "I'm glad I can be here for this family time, but does someone wanna tell me what went down?" Hotch came to the front, closest to Derek. "You were shot while we were away on a case. You've been out for about a week." Derek shut his eyes and groaned in pain. "You guys need to stop worrying about me. I'm ok, see?" He lifted his hand to touch Penelope's face. A tear dripped down her face as she did, and he wiped it away and said, "don't cry, baby. Stop the tears. I'm fine, lets all be happy." They all gathered together for a big hug over Derek.
Late that night, at about 2 in the morning, Derek was alone. He thought about everything he could've lost, all the pain he never imagined was even possible to feel, the look on Garcia's face. He sobbed quietly in the darkness.
