Staying Alive

"You've got explaining to do, you two." I heard as Bridg and I shut my flat door behind us. There in front of us stood an anxious Joelle and Delilah.

"I know, I know." I groaned.

"Let's talk while we eat." Delilah suggested.

We all followed Joelle to the back patio that connected our two flats. There Joelle had already sat up plates and cups along with the fruit salad and a pitcher of water. I quietly sat beside Bridg and fixed a plate and drink while everyone else did the same. Whenever everyone had settled in, Joelle turned to us.

"Spill."

"Okay," I began, "What we tell you, you can tell no one else. Promise?"

"Promise." Joelle and Delilah said in unison.

I then began to tell the two how I had met Niall Horan on the plane and then later had met him again at the pub. I explained how we talked and ended up going to get a pastry with his friend Harry. Lastly, I explained why we had skipped out on Joelle's lunch offer. When I finished I was unsure of what Joelle was thinking. Delilah looked legitimately confused, almost in disbelief, while Joelle seemed to almost be shaking.

"Do you know how dangerous that is?" Joelle said, her voice slowly rising as she said each word. It looked as if she were about to jump out of her seat and her cheeks were turning a dark red.

"Dangerous? You need to live a little." Bridgett finally said.

"Live a little? I'm TRYING to make sure I can KEEP living." Joelle hollered. Man, I have never seen her this angry before.

"Calm down Joelle." I said, patting her shaking hand. "We're here. We're safe, and in one piece."

Joelle just moved my hand away.

"You went on a date with a member of one of the biggest bands in the world, and you don't find that dangerous? So many people want to see him...sneaking off with someone you don't even know is always a risk. He could've hurt you Hales....and his friend could've hurt Bridg." Joelle choked out. She was forever getting emotional, but I knew it was only because she cared so much.

"Hey, hey." I soothed, moving to rub her back. "I know that I was a bit stupid, but lately I've just felt stuck. Like I need to do something....anything. Niall and Harry showed up and, well, I saw that as my opportunity. They really aren't dangerous and they're the sweetest boys in the world. Promise."

"Well, I still worry." Joelle admitted.

"Would you feel better if you met them?" Bridg piped up.

"Yeah, would you like to have a chat?" I smiled at Joelle and Delilah.

"Yah, I'd like that." Delilah smiled.

"Yah, me too." Joelle finally smiled as well, wiping away the last of her tears.

"Okay, well I'll talk to Niall and see what we can work out. What about lunch tomorrow? Niall wanted to take me out tomorrow night, I think Harry and Bridg had something planned too, so it'll have to be early in the day." I told Joelle.

"Alright, I'll make up some cakes then." Joelle smiled.

"Well don't worry about lunch. I'll take care of it." I smiled, not wanting her to go to anymore trouble. She was doing us a tremendous favor by keeping our secret.

"Sounds great!" Delilah giggled. Just then I looked off into the distance to see the beautiful sun set. We all sat quietly watching as day turned to dusk and then to night. When the sun was completely hidden from view and it began to get chilly, we all four moved inside.
