The 'hole' problem

Kaminari's POV

It's been an hour of blood, sweat and tears.

I've watched people that I've known for years and some who I never knew be devoured, swatted and chomped in half.

I'm honestly not sure how much more of this I can take.

And the worst part is that the titans avoid me at all costs, making it slightly more difficult when trying to slay those bastards.

The only upside is that I don't have to worry about being eaten, only about being swatted by a rogue hand when they try escape me.

I know my cannisters are running dangerously low when I spot a familiar sight of a small and quick figure using his signature spin attack. He shoots a grapple into the nape of the first titan and slicing it's nape, throwing his blades into the eyes of the second titan.

The grotesque being screams in agony, holding it's hands to its eyes. Steam pouring out as it tries to heal the wounds. Levi grabs two more blades and I just get close enough to hear him talking to the titan.

"Easy there big guy, take it like a man. Nobody likes a cry baby." Normally I would laugh but now really wasn't the time for it, instead I zoom by cutting the nape of the creature, allowing it to fall to he ground with an unceremonious 'thud'.

Levi jumps off in time and glares angrily until he sees that it was me.

He sighs somewhat angrily, "what are you doing here brat?" I land in front of him a little out of breath, "Wall Rose has been breached just like 5 years ago. We need both the Scout Regiment and Special Operations squads back immediately."

His jaw slackens momentarily before resuming its normal position, "I swear to God if you are kidding brat-" "- WHY ON EARTH WOULD I KID ABOUT THIS?!" I furiously roar at my short ass Captain.

Thankfully Commander Erwin arrives before Levi can yell at me. "She's not kidding Levi, we all heard the withdrawal alarm. We are all heading back now and Kaminari you have permission to fly. Just make sure you have your Survey Corps cloak on."

"Sir!" I quickly throw up my green hood after disposing of my trainee jacket.

I bite my hand thinking of the task at hand and massive white wings emerge out of my back, with a seven metre wingspan when fully stretched out.

I pull Erwin, Petra, Hanji and a stubborn Levi into a quick hug each before launching into the air.

I soar through the air at break neck speed, slashing titans left and right, until I finally make it back to Wall Rose where I see no living humans, a whole bunch of titans and corpses.

I fly back over the wall and into the midst of soldiers sitting around because of the withdrawal signal. I land next to Jean, Annie, Reiner, Bertolt and Marco, ignoring all the whispers and stares of the rest of the soldiers and 104th cadet squad.

"Woah! Who the hell are you?!?" exclaims a worried Jean. I pull him and Reiner in close so they can only just see my face, obviously  them. "Where's Eren, Armin, Thomas and Mikasa?"

Reiner delicately touches my wings, staring at them in awe, "Thomas didn't make it but we can't tell you about the other three."

I purse my lips in frustration before ushering the group away, folding my wings closer to my body but not retracting them. "My name's Kaminari Moriko of the Scout Regiment, Second in Command of the Special Operation's squad I command you to tell me of this gag order."

Jean's the first to get over his shock, "Eren transformed into a titan after getting eaten, the Garrison Regiment took them and slapped us with a gag order."

I spit take.

I nod, "what the hell? Urgh it doesn't matter. This is another gag order, sorry but you can't talk about this right now but you can-"

BOOM

We rush to see what was happening, I study the smoke and location of where the sound came from. "It must have been a cannon. Follow me."

They comply immediately, following me as I fly to the top of the wall to a shocking sight. A half titan, seemingly caught the cannon fire. From beneath the steam I assume that's where I'll find Eren, Mikasa and Armin.

Out of the smoke I see Armin yelling out to the terrified Garrison Regiment Soldiers. "It doesn't matter how we perceive him, that fact of the matter is that hundreds of soldiers saw him fighting the titans and the titans saw him as their prey. And that's an indisputable fact!"

I almost sigh in relief as the Regiment lower their blades, Reiner smiles from besides me. "Maybe it'll be alright." "Maybe" replies Annie unconvinced.

I feel Jean's gaze on me, "Moriko why are you so worried? Things seem to be going alright." I point at the Captain's face, "he's too blinded by fear for any of this to end well."

As if to prove my point, the panicked Captain Forman begins yelling out profanities. "PREPARE TO ATTACK! I REFUSE TO BE SWAYED BY THIS MONSTER!"

Armin looks horrified as he glances back into the steam, before saluting desperately, "I am a soldier and have dedicated my life to the restoration of humanity's future. Nothing more would make me happier than dying for the human race. If we combine his titan abilities with our armies, it might be possible to recapture the town! For the glory of the human race, I beg you! In my final moments before I die, PERMIT ME TO ADVOCATE HIS STRAEGIC VALUE!"

The others gasp in shock, I turn to them. "Stay here I'll deal with this but you all can't tell them who I am just yet, okay? That's a gag order." I don't wait for their response as I adjust my hood.

I leap forward in front of Armin, my wings outstretched with a metal plating defence and metal rising from the ground to protect Eren and Mikasa, just as Commander Pixis catches Captain Forman's falling hand.

"That's enough, you should really do something about your nervous disposition. Can you not see his heart felt salute? " I step aside revealing Armin with his eyes squeezed shut and his knuckles white from clenching his fists so tightly.

"As you can see, both myself and Captain Moriko have just arrived but we seem to be quiet aware of the situation. Gather the reinforcements, I think myself and Captain Moriko can at least hear these young soldier's out."

I give Pixis a curt nod as Armin falls to his knees with tears cascading down his face. Eren and Mikasa wrap Armin in a hug and eye me warily.

Armin stands shakily, smiling at me even though he can't see my face. "thank you Angel." Immediately I feel my cheeks flush, "Oh so you remembered me?" I tease in a slightly higher voice.

'I probably shouldn't talk unless necessary incase they recognise my voice....'

Eren and Mikasa look slightly confused before recognition flickers through their eyes. "You're the one who saved him five years ago." Mikasa says confidently.

I nod as Commander Pixis approaches. "So Eren I guess it's time we had a chat. Moriko take those two up the wall and meet with my team." "Yes Sir."

I gesture them to follow me but as we get to the wall Armin taps me on the shoulder, "I'm sorry to be a bother but my cannisters ran out." Wordlessly I remove my two full ones and hand them to him.

He quickly attaches them quickly and the two of them follow me up the wall to where Commander Pixis' team is. The three I introduce Mikasa and Armin to are; Ian Dietrich, Rico Brzenska and Mitabi Jarnach.

I quickly steer the conversation between Armin and Ian about what we are going to do about the breach in the wall and how Eren could be the key to our 'hole' problem.
