Mabel

Toby and I set out that very minute, we walked through the woods carefully, talking about this and that. We had been walking for a little when we started to hear something like punching wood. "Toby...listen..." I whispered. He nodded, he heard it too. We walked up and saw a girl...I use the term girl loosely, she had metal bits patching up parts of her skin, and her eyes seemed to reflect metal. "Hi there!" I said way more nicely then I intended. She turned and looked at us, her eyes narrowed as she stared at Toby. I felt Toby put his arm around me as if protecting me. I could protect myself...he doesn't know that.... Suddenly the girl exploded with anger, she shouted at Toby. What was going on? She was saying things like Toby wouldn't help her, Toby abandoned her when she was dying. Who is she? "Toby? What's going on?" I asked. "I don't know..." He said confused, he didn't seem to remember this girl. "Who are you?" I asked her, "Oh, you know, just that girl that almost died because Toby here wouldn't help out a 12-year-old that had just gotten BLOWN UP!!!!!! Also known as Mabel" She says like it was something she said everyday. "Toby? You just brought me back from the dead...why didn't you help her?!" I asked him worried and confused. "Um..well..." He started. "Wait, before you 2 lovebirds start fighting I would like to mention that there is a creeper behind you." Mabel said calmly. I turned around ready to hug it. I have a thing with hugging creepers. Toby's reaction was different, "WHAT?!?!?!" He scream, turning around like a terrified monkey. I couldn't help but laugh a little. "Oops! It was just Wither Girl's hoodie" she said. I was confused for a second, then I realized she meant me. How did she know?! "Um Mabel? We have to talk!" I say grabbing her and pulling her away for where Toby was standing. "How did you know I was Wither?!" I asked "you mean the wither boss health bar in the top of my vision?" She said, "what?" I asked "I can see a health bar in the top of my vision." She said calmly. "Normal people don't have that!" I said "oh...that must be something the golems did." She said awkwardly. "Yeah...people don't know I'm Wither..." I said. "Sorry..." She said, I could tell she was genuinely sorry. "It's ok I forgive you...we just have to come up with a lie for Toby" I said thinking. "Alright I got one" I said after a second. We walked back to Toby, "what was that all about?" He asked. "What did she mean Wither Girl?" "Oh nothing sweetheart! She thought my gloves reminded her something of a wither...it's ok!" I said, shit...that was not convincing... "Ok we have to go back to the castle now! I still need my medicine" I said. "Right!" Toby said, suddenly completely focused. "Coming with?" I asked Mabel, I was beginning to like her. "Sure, got nowhere else to go!" She said as she followed us out of the woods.

We arrived at the castle and Teep was guarding the perimeter. I motioned for Mabel and Toby to stay where they were and I walked out to greet my friend. "Hey Tee!" I said walking up, he turned but saw it was me and relaxed. He had a questioning look on his face, "no Rythian and Zoey aren't with me." I said, his face went filled with worry. "Oh no! No they aren't hurt! They are still at Inthelittlecorp, when it is safe enough for us all to get home we will come home, I just needed to get something." I said. "My friends came to help me find my way back, I swear we will all come home for good soon." I said. Toby and Mabel came out of the shadow of the woods, Tee growls but I motion for him to back off. "It's ok, these are the friends that came with me, they are here to protect me and help me, I got injured a few days ago." I said. Teep hugged me then let us walk into the house. I would have grabbed Rythian a Klien Star but I didn't know where he kept his spare, so I just ran up to my room, Toby and Mabel in my wake. I grabbed the box of the dresser and ran back downstairs, hoping that if I got in and out quick enough, Toby and Mabel wouldn't see the still bloody sheets laying on the floor. "Ok I'm ready" I said. "Lets go" Toby said holding my hand. "Lead the way lovebirds" Mabel said mockingly. I fake glared at her for that, but then started laughing to hard to keep a strait face. "What?" Mabel said innocently. I said good bye to Teep and then we ran back into the woods.

We arrived back at Inthelittlecorp just before sundown, Rythian and Duncan were arguing but both standing around waiting outside the tree. They saw us and immediately stopped arguing, Rythian saw Mabel and his eyes narrowed, what was it with everyone hating each other? "Got the medicine?" Duncan asked, "yeah" I said, "this is Mabel, we found her in the woods" I said, "Mabel this is Duncan" I said pointing "and Rythian" I said pointing to him. Duncan eyed Mabel, "why do you have metal??" He asked her, I could tell they might become friends. "Like I would tell you" she says as we walk inside. Rythian pulls me away from Toby and the rest as we walk inside, "Kira, you have to take your medicine now, I hate to ruin the moment of friendship and all that. But you have to, you know what will happen if you don't." He said, "right..." I said staring at the white box in my hand. "I'll be back guys ok?" I announced to everyone, I got some nods, Rythian and I walked out onto one of the branches, then started to climb. We wanted to be far enough up that no one would visibly see me from the ground or the house. Finally we are high enough, "here's good" Rythian announced. I shook my head and sat down, pulled out a bottle and opened it up. "Here goes nothing" I mutter as I nearly choke myself with the stuff. I gulp down swallow after swallow, the pain doesn't come, just like that other night. "Done" I announced holding my stomach, waiting for the pain. Rythian watched me, knowing what would happen. Then I felt it, a thousand needles sticking me repeatedly. I started to bleed, little grey pin points on my clothes quickly I took off my hoodie, revealing a grey tee shirt underneath. "Don't want this to get bloody" I mange to say. It hurts more then I can imagine, much worse then the other night. This time the pricks aren't just on my skin, I feel pricks at my heart, my lungs, the needles poke my insides. There is more blood then the last time, it comes gushing out like grey, ashy, liquid charcoal. I watch in pain as it drips down the branches, puddling on the green grass below. Rythian held me from falling as I felt myself slip between conscious and unconscious. He propped me up against the thick trunk of the tree, "there there, it will all get better." He whispered soothingly. He really was the father that Ridgedog never was. That's when I saw her, Mabel came climbing up silently behind Rythian, I would say something but I have not the energy. She comes up and looks at me, Rythian sees her but before he can do anything, she hold out a rose to me, I hold it lightly, my hands not gripping anything like they should. She starts to chant something, I feel strength return to me, but she seems to grow a bit weaker. She looks satisfied, but chants something else and the rose disintegrates. She smiled and climbed back down the tree. "What was that all about?!" Rythian said. I didn't know...I really didn't know. I had stopped bleeding so I threw my sweatshirt back on and we climbed back down to the house. Mabel was sitting in the corner, she looked like she was thinking, I wasn't about to go bother her. Toby came and hugged me, "feeling better?" He asked, "yeah..." I said faintly, I was still weak, I sat down on the couch next to Zoey and we talked for awhile. My hands were pulsing, but I felt it stopping, everything would be fine I told myself again. Everything would be fine.

Ok so I said that last chapter would be my last but...I lied...I was motivated and finished this at 12 am the night before I leave...(technically it is Wednesday though...leaving in a few hours!) so this is the official last chapter before I leave!!
