Anteiku

Lyra Page is a professional hunting ghoul and used to be a terrifying assassin until she quit after feeling that she was loosing her self. She now works at Anteiku and seeks protection and shelter there as a waitress and is a college student, 2 years older than Petra. Her joyful nature was implemented after years of staying in the dark and not being able to be herself. Pic above

The traffic was agreeable but annoyingly distasteful....as how every traffic treats Colby Brock or any of the other Brocks. The young ghoul just couldn't believe his luck getting stuck in this highway with horns blaring from the back and the sides. His head was pounding with how everything seemed to go wrong. First his mother....and then Sam getting attacked by Rize.

Colby snatched his phone frm the empty side seat of his car and impatiently punched in the numbers he had dialed again again since yesterday evening. He breathed through the speakers and heard a beep, throwing the phone back in its place because he couldn't bear to hear the same voice message repeating itself over and over again. His fingers gripped the wheels tightly as he closed his eyes and tried to sooth his worries.
He's probably still mad....give it a rest, Colby

But Colby wasn't able to let his mind rest on the matter that Sam Golbach had decided not to take any of his call at all. He never even called back or text him. His blue eyes wandered over towards the white Mitsubishi three cars away, trying to cut through another lane. He cursed under his breath and let his forehead rest on the back of his hands on the steering wheel, hearing the rhythmic pulse in his veins, trying to calm his temper. He would never believe his future self could be as worked out as this.

Damn Rize!!

Speaking of which, where'd that bitch disappeared too?? It's been awfully quite around her news and whereabouts lately. Even Caprone and some of the older ghouls couldn't trace her. He didn't want her anywhere near Sam. And why Sam?? Colby wasn't dumb enough to figure it out that the reason Rize attacked them in the first place...was never because of him. It was always Sam....and it had always been Sam....

That boy had been the prime target from day one is what I believe, his brother's voice rung in his head. You better keep an eye on him!! Make sure he doesn't do anything stupider than usual. You really don't want him to attract anymore unnecessary attention

"Aogiri Tree", Colby murmured. He slowly lifted his head from the wheel as the Audi in front moved a few paces forward. Colby followed suit. "Aogiri...Aogiri..." He sighed. "Shit! Where are you hiding bastards?"

And then he remembered. "Antei...ku"

...................

Surprisingly, Petra was leading them into a brightly lit shopping street with lots of young people around, shopping away. They were back in downtown and Sam didn't know why everyone no longer appealed him anymore. His hunger had not vanished completely but he didn't felt like ambushing a random person on the street and tearing them from limb to limb, devouring their flesh. Which....was....a good thing....

Sam followed close behind Petra who glided her way around the many pedestrians and shoppers! carefully avoiding a collision. Patting a little girl along the way, she made a right turn towards a four combined shop lot and bounded up the three stone steps of the second building. Sam looked up and widened his eyes in realization as the boards read:
Anteiku Caffe

Colby!
Colby had said something about a coffee shop...was it Anteiku? He was pretty sure that it was. As Petra swung the doors out wards, a bell at the end jingled indicating a newly arrived customer but in this case....was just Petra.

"You know, I'd really appreciate it if you'd stop spacing out", she remarked loudly. Sam blushed. "Next time you annoy me, I'm going to beat the shit out of you again".
"Right...sorry...."

He followed her up the steps and she made sure he entered before she slammed the door shut. A boy who looked like he was obviously waiting for Petra to return came bounding up from where he sat at the far end of the orange vinyl booth. His sneakers squeaked on the polished wood as he made his way, his light hair tousled. He wore one of those waiter's outfit with his vest buttoned smartly and and white shirt tucked in. Everything was class except that he was wearing a simple jeans with funky chains looped around the pockets. Petra patted his head with a frown.

"Don't you have school tomorrow or something?"
"Well, yeah", the boy answered. He looked much younger, probably in middle school. "But I wanted to wait".
"A stubborn one, he is", An amused voice came from behind the counter of the cafe. A girl popped up from whatever she had been doing, crouching, giving a warm smile. She too wore the uniform but her long sleeves were rolled up to her elbows. She walked out from behind the counter and Sam realized how red her hair was.

She tied them into a ponytail and let them hang loose by her side. Her wavy hair seemed to take up space in the front and back of her shoulders and she gave him the cheesiest grin. "Yoohoo", she waved.

Sam nodded politely. Petra grunted. The boy crossed his arms and eyed him suspiciously. A moment later, he burst, "hey mister? You're not an Aogiri member, are you?"
"Excuse me?" Sam asked politely. There was no denying on how dangerous these people can be. He had already witnessed Petra's side effect of the punch and didn't felt like taking any more throws. Petra grunted again.

"Him?" She said as though she was referring to a troubled child in school. "Oh,please....he hasn't been a ghoul for a day. Caused me a lot of trouble. He almost got eaten by that dumbass, Gareki too".

The other girl's smile turned into a round 'O' indicating her state of surprise while the boy's eyes widened a little. "A day? What do you mean?"
"Um..." Sam began, feeling the butterflies in his stomach. "I guess...I don't have a choice. I'm a...half breed. It's what Petra says".

Now the girl's eyes matched her round 'O' lips. "A half breed!" Then she panted out a laugh. "How...rare."
"Is there a way where I can change back!" Sam asked, desperation clear in his voice. He was sure Petra would make a mockery out if this but she stood beside him, silently staring ahead although he was sure there was something she wanted to tell him. "Please...I'm..I have to become a human again. I don't think I have the guts to feed on another creature that looks like me".

The boy and the girl's eyes met and Sam recognized the silent conversation they were having through looks. Petra leaned against the wall of posters and....reached out to touch his left shoulder. He didn't move as she squeezed him lightly, a slight frown on her eyebrows.
"You're bleeding a little".
Sam reached his right hand to touch his wet sweater, all soaked and dried red. He didn't feel any pain though. Petra looked uncomfortable.

"Sorry", she apologized without seeing his face. "Guess I shouldn't have pushed you that hard against the wall just now".
"Oh...it's..okay", He replied. He wanted to see the smile she gave him earlier. "It doesn't even hurt".
"It will soon".

"First things first though u lovebirds!!" The other girl squealed. Petra's expression turned darker and Sam felt so exposed to extreme danger. She could punch him out of fury right then and he won't be able to avoid.
"HAH!??" Petra's voice was loud and harsh. "That's the WORST joke you've created so far. Lovebirds, my ass".

"Awww....but Petty, he's adorable!!"
Petty??
Sam couldn't help smiling but one glare from the short tempered girl made him drop his lips.
"What's your name?"
"Sam Golbach".
"Precious", the girl clapped her hands together. "I'm Lyra Page. And this is Samuel". She let her arm skied over the boy's neck.
"Samuel? That's my name!"
"And you think you're the only Samuel in the entire world?" Petra cut through.
"No...that's not what I-"
"Precious!" Lyra chimed in. "I think it's fated how the two of you should share the same name. Well, Mr. Golbach, you can stay here if you want".

"What about the old man?"
"Petty, you know Furroster would let the poor dear stay. He might be able to help!"
Sam's breathing rhymed the beating of his heart. "If that's okay".
Petra clicked her tongue. "Whatever, follow me!"
