He snapped her neck like it was nothing but a twig. If it wasn't for Alec still maintaining a tight grip on her, she would have fallen straight to the floor. She slumped over and I let out a sob, clamping a hand over my mouth.

"Is she..." I gulped."Is she dead?"

"I can't believe she just said that." Leah shook her head, sadly.

"What did she say?" I asked, almost afraid to hear the answer.

"Nothing you need to worry about." Shadow said, taking Raven's body from Alec and slinging her over his shoulder.

I frowned. I hated being kept in the dark. I remained silent as Shadow disappeared with Raven's body, not even bothering to ask where he was taking her. He'd just killed her... I was in shock. I was surprised I hadn't fainted, though I did feel sick. I wasn't cut out for this, I really wasn't.

Then, a thought occurred to me. Did that mean I could go home? Did that mean Shadow could take me to Scarborough to live with Rose? I hoped it meant I could because the danger was over now. I had no reason to stay here any longer. I didn't have to be a prisoner anymore, it's not like anyone would believe me if I started screaming I'd been kidnapped by a vampire. They'd laugh in my face and think I was crazy.

When Shadow entered the room again, he walked over to me with a stern expression. I watched him, waiting with bated breath for him to say I could go, that I wouldn't be stuck here a second longer.

Unfortunately, that never came.

"From now on, I'm not letting you out of my sight until this is all over." He told me.

I was confused. "What? Haven't you just-"

"No." He cut me off with a shake of his head.

"Why?"

"Yeah, Shadow," Alec jumped in suddenly, annoyance plain on his face as he wrapped his arms around Leah. "Why is she still alive after that?"

"You heard what she said. I'm not taking any chances." He snapped.

My frown deepened. What were they talking about?

"She's alive?" I asked, tentatively.

"Yes." Alec responded.

I let out a breath. No matter what Raven was trying to do, there was a part of me that was glad she wasn't dead. I wasn't sure why I felt like that, I couldn't answer anyone who asked, but I just was. The thought of her being killed right in front of me would no doubt haunt me just like the torture of Rolan did. I wouldn't be able to forget it. So maybe it was just a matter of my sanity.

"What's going to happen now?" Leah asked, glancing at Shadow.

"I don't know." He replied.

Leah snorted. "Great plan there, Shadow, really, truly great."

"Now isn't the time for sarcasm, Leah. If you've got nothing to offer then just leave. I'm not in the mood today."

Leah shook her head, with an amused smile on her face.

"Well, me and Alec are going out, so try not to kill Raven while we're gone." She said before leaving the room. Alec said his goodbyes, following Leah until they were both out of the room. When the front door opened and shut, I slumped against the wall again.

"I'm never going to leave here, am I?" I asked, not expecting an answer. Sighing, I closed my eyes and tried not to cry because that's the last thing I wanted to do. Opening my eyes, I blinked a couple of times, just as Shadow moved to lean against the wall next to me.
