I left Alex in charge. He would be fine taking care of the pack alone for a while. I get into my car and look back up at the house. The Elders stood watching me. I had made sure this was ok with them. The chief Elder said this may be for the best. Letting her grow up some. They all ended up agreeing with me in the end. As I drove away I could feel my wolf fighting me to go back to our mate. As we got further away he gave in and agreed to let our mate grow up some more. The drive to Dominic's pack feels like days, though it only takes about an hour.
When I get there I am met by Jocelyn. Dom must have told her what happened. I step out of the car and she hugs me. "I am so sorry Heath. Come on in, I've made dinner if you are hungry at all." She tells me. I smile at her. "Thank you Jocelyn." I say and follow her to the house after pulling my bag out of my car. I set my stuff down when we enter the house. Dominic meets us at the door. "Heath, how are you?" He asks. I sigh. "Don't tell anyone.. But I just feel like crying.." I admit. My wolf growls at me. I knew I shouldn't be admitting weakness to Dominic, but he was like a second father to me. I knew he cared, even if I was an Alpha from another pack. He looks at me with a sad smile. "I'll show you to your room." He says, taking one of my bags from me. I follow him and once to my room I set my stuff down and sit in the bed. Dominic walks out, shuting the door behind him. I finally let myself crack. I cry. I cry for being away from my mate, I cry from the pain of betrayal. I never thought it was possibly for me to cry, but here I sat, crying like a child. Some Alpha I am.. I take a deep breath. I need to calm down. I take out my phone and look at the now 5 texts I have. I look at the 2 from my sister.
She wont leave her room... Everyone can hear her crying Heath.
Why are you doing this? Can't you let her get over it without leaving her in pain?
I frown. Maybe she was right, but I can't go back now. I sigh. I know my mate is hurting because I'm hurting too. Michelle doesnt understand why I am doing this. Only Dominic and Jocelyn could really understand right now.
I can't. She needs to grow, away from me and this mate bond right now. You wouldn't understand.
I send it then go to look at my other three texts. All three were from Violet. I look over each one and read them carefully and frown.
Heath please don't do this! I'm so sorry! Please stay!
I dont know what I'd do without you Heath! Please dont leave!
Come back...
I frown and feel my wolf whimpering as I read her texts. I notice I have 7 missed calls. I look and see they are all from Violet. I lay my phone down, deciding it is much to painful to look at. This was going to be hard, but I needed to stay away for a while and I was going to do just that. I leave my room and walk downstairs. I follow their scent and find Dominic and Jocelyn in the kitchen. They turn and face me as I enter. "Heath, how is your room?" Dominic asks, eating a strawberry from a bowl on the counter. I smile. "It's great thanks. I thank you again for letting me come here Dominic." I say, sitting down on one of the barstools. "Don't mention it Heath. Just glad we could help." He tells me. I nod slowly.
As I do I hear laughter. I look to the doorway and see Heather and Vince run into the room. "Mommy! Vince is trying to tickle me!" Heather complains to Jocelyn. Heather and Vince are Dominic and Jocelyn's twins. They are 8 years old and very active. They are always together. I chuckle as she complains to her mother. They both turn and look at me and Heather's eyes light up. "Heath you're here!" She exclaims, running over and hugging me. Vince follows and I hug them both. "Hey you two." I say. "Heath will you teach me some Alpha training?" Vince asks with excitement. I hear Jocelyn and Dominic laughing. "Hey if he trains you he has to train me! Just because you're a boy doesn't mean you get to be Alpha. I'm going to become the first girl Alpha. You'll see!" Heather states proudly. I look over at Dom who is smiling at her.
"Don't you think I could do it Heath?" She asks. I look down at her. She has determination in her eyes. "You know what Heather. I believe you can do anything you set your mind and heart to. If that means the Alpha position, then I think you could do it. You have to work really hard for it though." I tell her. She smiles wide. "I can do it! And I will! I will become the Alpha of this pack someday! But dont worry Vince I promise to make you my Beta." She sticks her tounge out at her twin who glares at her. "Well it's on then. If I become Alpha though, I'll make you my Beta." He says. "Deal! Whoever becomes Alpha makes the other their Beta." Heather holds out her hand and Vince shakes it. I smile. These kids made me realize how much I wanted children some day. I wanted to be able to give my child a talk that made them think this way. Now I just need to give Violet some time to grow a little more. Then maybe someday her and I could have children. I couldn't wait for that day to come.
