* Linda Pov *
"Well look who finally decided to show up."
Jennifer alerts over her shoulder so that the rest of the family that remained inside could hear as she unlatches the doorknob and widely the door to expose us along with our guilt for arriving so late.
We'd guessed that she would step aside to let us in, but she held her ground and didn't move an inch.
Andrew groans, obviously not in the mood for her foolishness or others due to our new circumstances. "Jennifer.."
"What?" she acts faultless.
I couldn't help but giggled and watched on how they were behaving like...siblings.
She's such a tease.
Thankfully Jennifer's beloved came to the rescue and disregarded the two of us out away from our misery. By leading the way for us to pass. "Let them be, Jennifer."
"Fine." she surrendered and gave both Andrew and I a tight hug.
"They're always late." muttered Grandmother Martha.
"Don't you start now, Martha---"
She held her hand up to interrupt him. "I'm just saying ever since he married an urban girl."
Ouch! That cut real deep.
I stared at her for a minute then shook my head.
So we're back to this?
I thought we were cool, Martha?
"Linda. You mean, Linda." Andrew corrected, somewhat annoyed with his grandmother lack of love.
Oh Lord, when is this woman ever going to welcome me as her daughter-in-law with all her heart?
"Yes, Linda.." she paused, shed a few tears and then proceeds. "It's just... we've seen you less and less since the day you two tie the knot."
What an actress!
Andrew massages the back of his neck and breathes out. I've noted he does that whenever he wants to resolve a situation. "I've been working, grandmother and I've...."
She knows just the way and how to soften her grandson's, heart.
"Andrew! don't you dare give in her white tears, she shouldn't be interfering in your relationship." Grandpa Paul advice his grandson then turns to his segregated minded wife and pointed.
"I'm not butting in--" she began to justify, but her husband forbids her from uttering another word.
"Martha, You darn well what happened the last time you jumped in their relationship," he says matter of fact as he made room for his grandson and wife to take a seat. "Didn't that heart attack teach you anything?"
Jennifer clapped as we all witness grandfather Paul schooled his very own wife. "Amen!"
"I've seen everyone has greeted each other."
We heard a sudden voice that causes out to seek where it was coming. Then the owner of the house the husband and wife emerged.
"Linda! My darling how are you?" the Mrs. Henderson, who happens to be my husband mother's comes to salute.
I greeted her back and put on my best smile. "Never better."
Being the mother that she was her loving attitude kicked in. "It okay my love. You don't have to be okay all the time." she gave my hand a squeeze. "Don't let Martha get to you, she just going through menopause or something. You hear?"
