The dinner gathering was going well. My father and mother made it just in time for dinner. Jennifer decided to lead us in prayer to bless the food that she had prepared. When she was done we all sat down and began to enjoy the meal that was set at the table.
As I tasted my food I noted that it didn't have enough salt. I mean, it had a bit of flavor but not enough saltiness. So I tried to reach for the salt and pepper that was towards my husband who sat next to me and my father who was at the opposite of the table with my mother.
"Can you pass the salt and pepper, daddy?" I asked, my biological father. However, my husband and my father reached for them at the same time.
Oh. My. Gosh.
I noticed that my sister in law, Jennifer was already smiling ear to ear. My sister Keira mouthed 'you got it like that, sis?' the twins turned shades of red.
And others clearing their throats uncomfortably. In which I'm sure it fueled Martha hatred towards me even more.
"Unbelievable," she muttered,
I closed my eyes.
Why do I continue to put myself in a situation as this?
Moreover, how can a simple word that has been viewed as a synonym for father is now be referred for bedroom talk? And I've spoken such way several times.
I looked between my father and my husband who looked at each other in confusion. "Oh! Um, I mean-"
"See, there's two type of daddy-" stated my sister in law, Jennifer who's always thrilled for inappropriate comments.
"Not now, Jennifer." groans my husband. He reached for the pepper.
She raised her brow. "What? I'm trying help. You've done messed up, Andrew."
The twins couldn't stop themselves from jumping into the conversation. "He sure did, definitely," they said together.
My husband eyed the twins to end their remarks. He kissed my hand and sighed.
"I'm so sorry," he whispered.

Throughout the dinner, I did my best to keep my cool and be a gentleman. But one look at her and I was brought back to that disastrous day. This is the first time that I have seen her since that day. Yet she sits her and behaves as if she'd done nothing wrong.
"There some much tension what happened?" my sister Jennifer eyed Martha than me.
"No need to look at me like that what's is done," she says causally completely unbothered by her wrongdoing. "Deal with it."
"Wait? What happened?" Sarah cuts in, clueless about what we were talking about.
I scowled, "Why don't you do the honor, Martha?"
"Andrew--!" my father stood up and slams the table, furious with my lack of mannerism.
I shrugged, how can he be angry with me for her calling her out when she has disrespect my marriage from the very beginning. "No! father, do not side with her when you don't know what she had done."
