Haruhi walked into the music room right after school, hoping to hide at the back of the room and work on homework with Kyoya. Right when she opened the door, all the boys were running around creating artificial snow. She blinked her big brown eyes and shook her head. "Really guys?" Haruhi asked, looking pointedly at Tamaki. "What?! It was Honey's idea!" He ran up to her, shaking snow out of her hair. Some of it landed oon her jacket, but she didn't mind. "Are you going to let me work today?" She asked, trying to shoulder past him. "Nope! The girls will be here any minute and you need to make the coffee!" Tamaki handed her a box of instant coffee and pointed at the winter cups on the shelf. "You guys, it's sixty degrees out." Haruhi stated as she began making the coffee. Kyoya gave her a knowing smile. "Yes, but Tamaki insists on being in the winter spirit."
After the coffee was made and the girls were seated, Haruhi hid in the back to study her books. The twins approached her quietly. "Heeey Haruhi..." One said. "You going to let us copy you again?" The other asked. She still couldn't tell them apart. "No." She said flatly. The twins sighed and walked away. Ten minutes later, Honey tossed a snow ball at her head. Haruhi smiled at him, but went back to reading. "What's wrong with you?" Tamaki asked. "You don't like snow?" He held up a bunch of the white fluff. Haruhi shrugged. "I don't really care, I have work to do." Tamaki sulked. "I'm sorry Senpi. What do you want me to do?" She felt bad when he sulked. "Go to dinner with my family tonight!" He demanded. She shuddered on the inside. Dealing with him at school was enough. But instead of yelling she agreed.
...
That same evening, Tamaki sent a limo to pick Haruhi up at her tiny apartment. The driver held the door open for her, and she thanked him as she got in. She wasn't used to traveling in style. Haruhi picked at her pink dress and ran her hand over her hair. She had to make a good impression on Tamaki's dad.
Tamaki's house was huge and magnificent. Tamaki met her at the door and she took his out stretched arm. "Thank you for coming Haruhi." He smiled. "It's lonely here with just me and my parents." She rarely saw the softer side of him, it was a nice change. He lead her to a vast dining room. It had a table to seat fifty people, glass cabinets full of plates, cups, and fine china. The rugs were soft and beautiful. Haruhi couldn't help but stare at the sparkling lights and colorful windows. "Like it huh?" He asked her, his blue eyes shining under the light. Haruhi just smiled up at him.
"Welcome!" Mr. Suoh greeted her as they sat down. Waiters brought in sparkling sider and glasses of water with sugar on the rim. Haruhi didn't understand living in this much style all the time. Tamaki saw her marveling at the crystal glasses and grinned. "She likes the shiny things." He told his mother. She beamed with pride. The next thing brought in was plates of cubed cheese and fruit. They snacked on these while dinner was prepared. "How are you liking Ouran?" Mr. Suoh asked. Haruhi smiled gratefully at him. "It's an amazing school. Thank you for the chance to attend." She bowed her head slightly. If it weren't for Tamaki's dad, Kyoya had told her, she wouldn't be there. They discussed her grades, her favorite classes and what the school should improve on, which Haruhi had no comments on because that would be rude in her opinion. They had lobster and potatoes. Haruhi had never eaten such a fine meal. Then they had finely decorated cakes and perfect icing. Tamaki barely touched these, due to all the sweets they ate during club meetings, thanks to Honey.
At the end of the meal, Mr. and Mrs. Suoh thanked her for attending dinner, Haruhi thanked them for inviting her, and they dismissed themselves so Tamaki could walk her out. They barely spoke as they made their way to the double doored entrance. "Thank you for coming." He said softly. Haruhi smiled up at him. "What are friends for? And you know I wouldn't give up such a fine meal." He chuckled lightly. Tamaki gave her a kiss on the cheek, and held the door to the limo for her. As the driver pulled away, she found herself looking back at him. Tamaki was waving and grinning. She had the feeling that the rest of the club would know about their evening, and give her grief for it tomorrow.
