As I sit down and shut the car door, Ivy whistles at me. "Damn, you look good." She smiles. "I'm just letting you know I'm only going to be looking at your boobs all night."
I let out a loud laugh. "Thank you." I grin back, feeling flattered. Ivy looks good too, she's wearing a long, skin tight black dress.
"You ready?" She asks me.
"Yeah, let's go!" I say, excitedly.
She drives off and turns up the pop music playing on the radio. "I'm so happy we're doing this!" She shouts, before softly singing along to the song.
"Me too." I look out the window, watching the apartment buildings pass by.
The car is quiet, a little too quiet, and I look over at Ivy. Usually she talks a lot and I thought since because of last night with Bram, she would be talking my ear off like how she did on the phone earlier today.
"What's up?" I ask, looking at a suspiciously quiet Ivy.
She bites her bottom lip, quickly glancing at me with guilty eyes, before looking back ahead to the road. "What?" I ask again, in a more alarming tone.
She sighs, "You're going to hate me."
I freeze, staring at her, feeling worried. "Why Ivy? What did you do?" I frown.
She continues biting her lower lip, practically gnawing on it before she chuckles. "Okay, so I might have invited Bram and that guy you were with last night to dinner with us." She finally admits.
My jaw drops and I stare at her in disbelief, feeling betrayed. "Ivy! What the hell? I told you I didn't want to go out with Bram tonight! I don't like him." I admit.
She rolls her eyes, "Oh, come on! He's really not that bad. He was just super drunk last night, he was a little aggressive, but he's not always like that. And I told him to bring his friend, because he's cute! It'll be like a double date." She tries to explain to me, like it's no big deal that she lied to me.
"That's not cool, Ivy... You lied to me." I frown even deeper, the middle of my forehead feeling tight as I look out the window.
She pushes my arm, only playing, before putting her hand back on the steering wheel. "Stop it, I didn't lie to you! It really was just going to be you and I. But then I realized that if I didn't tell you that it'd just be me and you, you'd never come, and I seriously want you and Bram to get along. I really, really like this guy. It would mean a lot to me."
I don't know what to say to her. I'm upset, but the more I listen to her speak, the more I can tell how sincere she is about how much she likes him, but it doesn't mean I'm happy about this. She's going to have to make it up to me.
"Who is he, anyway? Where did you meet him? And when?" I question her as if I'm a detective.
She smiles. "I met him about two months ago at a bar. There was this guy performing there and I think he was friend's with him. He's twenty-six, he has a good job." She explains. I'm surprised this is the first time I'm hearing about him, since it's already been two months that they've been seeing each other. Or maybe she has mentioned him before but I just can't keep up with all the different men she sees.
"Oh yeah? What's his job?" I question her, even though I think I know the answer already.
She chuckles. "He sells."
I roll my eyes, "Yeah, that sounds like a really good job." I mutter sarcastically. I think back to the room I found last night. Now everything really checks out. "I found his room where he grows that stuff." I say.
