I widen my eyes, but at the same time, I don't find it hard to believe that Bram would do something like that to him. "Wow," I responded. "But, you guys seem so cool. How are you okay with what he did?" I ask him curiously.
"Define cool... I'm not cool with it, But whatever, right?" He smirks.
I stare at him, wondering how he could even speak to Bram ever again. I would never speak to Ivy if she ever did something like that to me. "You're stronger than I am." I mumble.
"Well, she wasn't exactly my girlfriend. We were just seeing each other, but it never went further than that."
"Is that because of Bram?" I question him.
"Maybe. I don't know, really. I don't like to think about it honestly." He chuckles.
"But still," I say. "How can you even look him in the face? How can you work for him? Even if you and that girl weren't exactly dating?"
"It's business. We do the same thing, we make money the same way. And it's good money. I wouldn't drop all of that over that girl. She wasn't worth that. I'm not as close to Bram anymore, on a personal level anyway, but we work together. That's why I put up with him."
"Is there more to the story you're not telling me?" I rebutted. For some unknown reason, I feel like I'm not getting the full story. It still doesn't make sense to me how he's so okay with Bram sleeping with his almost-girlfriend and just being able to let it go. I wonder how recently this happened.
He looks at me, clearly trying to read me. Failing, he finally answers. "Look, she was an escort, okay? Bram hired her one night, she and I met and we got along. We started seeing each other pretty often, spending a lot of time with each other. And one night at a party I walked in on her and Bram." He explains. "It's stupid, she was an escort. I shouldn't have even gotten involved with her in the first place. That's why it wasn't hard to get over it. That's what Bram hired her for, anyway. I couldn't really be mad, you know?" He continues to explain. I watch him as he speaks, happy that he's telling me the truth. It feels good to know he trusts me with it.
"When did this happen?"
"About six months ago or so. Feels like forever ago, though."
I almost let out a sigh of relief, happy that this wasn't near the time Ash and I met. So that means Bram lied and told me a completely different story, which I'm not surprised.
"What did Bram tell you?"
I shrug my shoulders. "He just said that you and Taylor were together right before meeting me and that I should ask you about her." I explained.
"Hm," He hums, quietly.
Ash and I spend the majority of the day laying on the couch together, watching movies, ordering lunch, talking and laughing. Getting to know him has been so fun. He's such an interesting person, the way he talks, the way he thinks, the way he does things. I like him a lot and I can tell he likes me too.
Around 9:00 pm, there's a moment of silence between us and I can see him thinking to himself before he says, "Let's play a game."
"Like what?"
"I'm not sure yet... But, how about whatever it is, every round, the loser has to kiss the winner." He suggests.
I laugh, "So, no matter what we're kissing each other?"
"Pretty much." He smiles cockily.
"You know, you don't need an excuse to kiss me... You can just kiss me." I mumble, leaning in closer to him.
