"Morning Mavis. You slept late today. It's almost 11:30."

"Morning. I guess I was just tired."

"I can understand that. It's been a week since you got here. How are you liking it?"

"It's been really good."

Besides all the fighting of course.

"Do you want to do anything today?"

"Not really, if that's fine. I think I'll head down to the skate park for a little while."

"That's perfectly fine. David's at work the whole day and I'm going to the store to get a few things."

"Okay."

"Is there anything you need?"

"Nope."

"Okay. Eat some breakfast and then you can head down to the park."

I grabbed an orange and quickly peeled and ate it before grabbing my longboard and normal board.

"I'm heading out!"

"Okay! Be careful and look both ways before you cross the street!"

"I will!"

"Bye!"

"Bye!"

It was strange to have such a laid back foster family but I felt as if Emma put up a front as if to make up for the way David acted. I didn't mind it though and I knew that when school started, things would probably be better, as the two could fight when I was in school so I wouldn't have to be reminded that I wasn't wanted.

"Hey!"

"It's Oliver, isn't it?"

"Yep!"

"Cool."

"Do you want to do a few skate competitions? You're new here and I want to gauge your talent."

"Sizing up the competition now aren't we?"

"Yes and proud of it!"

"Fine. Watch me whip your butt."

"You're on!"

We skated for almost an hour, both of us evenly matched. It was nice to have someone  talk with me not out of pity because of my past but because we shared the same interests.

"Same time tomorrow?"

"Can't. I have something going on."

"Three o'clock then?"

"Perfect."

"Bye Oliver!"

"Bye!"
