CHAPTER 5;

"-AND I WAS LIKE NO WAY THATS TAYLOR!" Kayla was telling me her story seeing me talking to Avery today. I was trying to completly block her out, but I was deffinetly not succeeding.

"Okay Kayla! I get it! You were stunned, now if you would let me eat my chicken nuggets in peace that would be lovely." She said something under her breath, which I knew was an insult to me without having to hear it.

"You are at my house. You have to be nice." I stuck my tounge out at her, then put my nugget in my mixture of Ketchup and BBQ sauce. Yum, Kayla thought I was disgusting, oh well.

The front door swung open, and in rushed a frazzled Landon. His appearance stunned me. The hem of his shirt was ripped and his curly blonde hair had gum stuck in it a few places. I could also tell there were spit balls stuck all over his clothing, and he had tears in his eyes. I stood up from the table so fast that my chair slammed to the floor, I ignored it.

"Lan, what happened to you!" He sniffles as I threw my arms around his tiny body. Kayla still sat at the table looking worried.

"Chad made some new friends and they don't like me. Neither does Chad no more." I felt my face turn hot and I stood straight and looked down at my mess of a brother.

"Chad is a jerk who needs a life." Landon wiped his nose on his sleeve.

"You have plenty other friends, dont worry about him." Landon nodded his head.

"You just need to forget about that assh-" Kayla's eyes grew wide. You see, my house had a no swearing rule because we have a swear jar, and you have to put a certain amount of money in each time you swore, and the jar read twenty...I really don't want to lose twenty dollars. "Butthole." Landon giggled, obviously noticing my almost slip.

"I am riding the bus tomorrow." I declared. Kayla snorted from her seat at the table. I turned and gave her the evil eye.

"Im serious! Nobody has the right to beat on my baby brother." Kayla stood up. "Well my moms going to be wondering where I am, so I should be going." I waved goodbye then went upstairs with Landon to cut the gum out of his hair.

"What colors do we have now, Lan?" He had all of the gum that I cut out so far on a paper towel, hair and all.

"Let's see. Pink, green, blue, yellow, and a ton of white. Ryan Germo was handing out Stride gum to anyone who gave him a dollar." I couldn't help but smile at how well he was taking everything. I made his change his clothes and take a shower in hopes to get the gum out, but obviously it came down to me having to cut it.

"So, do you mind me asking what exactly happened between you and Chad?" Landon's eyes flew to his feet. He started to squirm and fiddle with his hands.

"Well on the bus yesterday, Tony (an eighth grader) and his friends had beer on the bus. He told me and Chad if we drank some then we could be friends an-" I gasped.

"You what!" I stopped cutting, not even able to comprehend what I just heard.

"Let me finish!" I rolled my eyes. "So he said we could be friends if we drank it. When they handed me a can I refused and they started calling me names. Chad drank it and then he teamed up with them."

I walked around and faced Landon. I just stared at him for awhile before speaking.

"I am so proud of you, bud." Landon started to blush which made me let out a laugh. I hugged him and we finished cleaning him up in time for dad to get home from work. He looked puzzled when we both exited the bathroom at the same time, but I just smiled.
