CHAPTER 11;

"So. Who all got action tonight?" Kayla asked. All of us just ended up going to her house after the party because most of the girls were drunk.

Sam, Kayla, and Kate were starting to finally sober up, but it was still pretty bad. Mia and I were playing mom and holding their hair while they got the alcohol out of their system and gave them Tylenol and helped them change into more comfortable clothes.

"I did!" Kate yelled. I laughed at her slurred words and continued braiding Sam's hair so holding it as she barfed would be much simpler.

"Me too!" Kayla said as she held her hand up for Kate to give her a high 5, but they missed which cracked them up.

"I would have if Taylor wasn't such a bitch!" I yanked on Sam's hair.

"Ouch!" Sam turned around and gave me a dirty look. I put Sam's hair tie in her hair and moved so everyone was in a circle on the floor, with puke buckets being in the middle.

"Sam. You cannot have Will! That breaks girl code. There's only a few guys you CANT go after. Jason, Kate's new guy, and WILL." Sam hunched her back and started to pout.

"What about Avery Montgomery? You didn't mention his name." Kayla said. She was probably the least drunk out of the three, she can hold herself pretty good, unlike the two other lightweights.

"Why would I put Avery Montgomery on the list?" I asked grabbing a handful of popcorn to eat.

"Taylor. Come on. You ditched class to hang out with him," Kayla started.

"He picked you up from practice!" Sam piped in.

"-and you went on a DATE with him." Kayla said glaring at me, still upset I never told her about it.

"And you didn't leave his side at the party." Kate smirked.

"AND you were his "Girl" tonight." Kayla said doing air quotes when she pronounced girl.

I laughed. This was ridiculous.

"What do you mean his "Girl" tonight?" I asked, coping Kayla's air quotes.

"You know, the GIRL." Kate said.

"No, I don't know." I said.

"Okay, so after the football players come out of the locker room at the end of their game they go to their girlfriends or a girl they have a fling with, or the girl they like. It's a big deal. So tonight, when Avery came out of the locker room, he went looking for you. Volia. You his "Girl"."

At that point, I think I started to blush. "I thought girls ran on the field to the guys?" I said.

"Well, it was like that, but our schools' stupid and we can't do that anymore or you get kicked out for the rest of the season." Kayla said as she rolled her blue eyes.

"Oh. Well... that's dumb." I decided to say.

Everyones eyes were now on me.

"Quit changing the subject, Taylor." I groaned as I threw the last piece of popcorn in my hand into my mouth.

"What? What is it you're trying to get out of me? My life's an open book." My friends laughed. I scrunched my eyebrows. What? It was true... right?

"Taylor, you're about as closed as they get, my friend. Nobody ever knows what's going on with you. Not even Kayla!" I looked at Mia. It was the first words she offered in the conversation all night. The mood set for our conversation went from joking to serious in a matter of seconds.

I didn't understand.

"You guys know everything." I said. It was true, I though anyways.

"Nooooo, you don't tell any of us anything. We all found out about Avery at different times, and not because you told us, but because you guys were hanging out. We never know anything until it's already happened. You're a surprise Taylor." Kate rambled.

"Because it wasn't important. Avery is nothing to me. I tell you the important stuff." I defended. It seemed like everyone had teamed up against me, besides Sam who ran to the bathroom to puke.

"Whatever. This conversation is going nowhere." Kayla said giving me a cold stare. I shivered under it.

***********************************

It was around three in the morning by the time everyone finally laid down and went to sleep. I was just starting to drift off when I heard a calm voice in the dark.

"You better be careful." I sat up and looked over to where the source of the talking was coming from. Kate.

"What do you mean?" I asked rubbing my eyes to adjust to the darkness.

"Avery Montgomery isn't as innocent as you think." I scoffed. This is what this was all about?

"Oh trust me, I know." I said while rolling my eyes, while thinking of him.

"No, you don't. He's playing you the exact same way he did me. Once he gets his action he'll be gone. Moved on to his next victim. And you're my friend, Taylor. I don't want you to get hurt the way I did with that scumbag." Kate said as she checked the time on her iPhone.

"I don't like Avery." I said more to convince myself than Kate.

Kate smiled in the dark and nodded her head. She turned to look me straight in the eyes.

"Be careful." Kate said before rolling over so her back was facing me. I took this as my hint to go to sleep. Finally, thank God.
