The main reason I chose to write the broken princess journals was to relate a story. This story may not seem very spectacular, it may seem like just a regular story boring, until the story is about you. Each of us has an emotional journey to take. This journey requires us to battle with insecurity and self-doubt from time to time. Some of us are strong in our confidence and as a result survive these battles. However there are some of us who are not so strong. Insecurity and poor understanding of the value upon our own lives can lead us to make the wrong type of emotional decisions.
It can leave us open to emotional abuse and cause irreparable damage. Emotional abuse is not only damaging in itself but it is a gateway to other forms of abuse as well. Someone who is damaged emotionally will fall prey to drug abuse, physical abuse, sexual abuse, you name it. To put your hands on someone physically and subject them to pain or to put someone down with words, hurt them or instill fear in them, these things have equal impact on a person's life and can have far-reaching damaging effects.
"The Broken Princess Journals" was originally meant to be about one girl who could be any girl who because of her insecurity made some not very smart relationship decisions and allowed herself to be placed in situations of emotional abuse. Some scenarios were slightly pirated versions of personal experiences and experiences of other people. At this point in the story however I feel like it should be about more than just Sally. The story can also be explored from another girls perspective. This girls name is Amira which coincidentally (Lol not really though J ) also means princess in Arabic.
Emotional abuse, any sort of abuse has other aspects to it so while Sally still has a journey and there are still many reasons she went through what she went through, we are going to explore a different broken princess.
These stories are meant to encourage women and men, young or not so young to value themselves and other people. When you understand how valuable your life is and the lives of people around you, then you will not subject yourself or anyone else to emotional abuse. These girls I talk about, the "Broken Princesses" forgot their value and self-worth, in the process exposing themselves to unnecessary pain. It's a lesson I intend to teach my own child one day, one that my own mother taught me and at times I forgot. I feel a responsibility to share it and will continue to do so as long as I have breath. So if it's something you feel interested in reading, please do. If you feel like you don't I'm sure you know someone who does so please share it or let them know <3
