Chapter 16
Friday, school just flew by! I spent most of the day thinking of my date with Jake. I had no idea why I said yes. Am I getting his hopes up? Will he try to kiss me? Will it be awkward after? Thoughts raced through my mind.
I was sitting in my room looking at my closet, thinking of what to wear. Why should I care? It's only Jake... I was brought out of my thoughts by my Never say Never ring tone. I ran over to my phone to read the text.
Ready for our date at 7? ;)
-Jake
I quickly texted back and looked at the time. I had a hour and a half to get ready. I was rushing around my room looking for something cute and casual. Hanna came in and stopped me.
"Hey, calm down! What are you looking for?" She asked, laughing.
"I need to find an outfit! I'm going out with Jake tonight. I only have like an hour left!" She grabbed my arm and pulled me into her room. "Hey won't Heather kill you for being nice to me?"
"She isn't home. Now lets get you ready!"
I sat down on her bed and watched her pick clothes from her dresser. She yelled in victory when she found what she was looking for. Hanna walked over to me with a Lace Bow Dress. It was gorgeous! I grabbed the dress and quickly changed in the closet while she picked out the jewelry. Once I had the dress on I put on a butterfly charm necklace and a marble Rhinestone scallop ring.Hanna sat me down so she can do my hair and makeup. Once she was done my hair had big curls and my makeup was natural. I looked at myself in the mirror. I looked beautiful.
"Oh my gosh! Hanna you did such an awesome job!" I squeled.
"I know! You look amazing!" The doorbell rang. "Have fun tonight! Don't forget your shoes." Hanna smiled. I slipped on my natural crochet TOMS and ran to the door.
"Hey Gab- Whoa.." Jake's jaw dropped to the floor.
"Hey Jake! Let's go!" I said pulling him to his car. "Where to?"
"I was thinking The French Room."
"Oh! Fancy!"
When we arrived at the restaurant, I walked in and the waiter sat us at our table. It was so quiet in there. The only noise you heard was forks hitting the plate. I was afraid to talk because I was afraid I would be to loud. I sent Jake a text telling him,
Jake... This place is so quiet!
Jake's phone went off and it started playing How Do I Breath by Mario on full blast. I couldn't help but laugh. Everybody was staring at us. Jake glared at me when he found out I was the one to make his phone go off.
"Sorry." I mouthed.
He laughed a little and mouthed, "Let's get out of here." He pulled me out of my seat and we were out of The French Room in a flash.
"Nice ring tone." I joked.
"Oh uhm..." He blushed, rubbing the back of his neck.
"Is someone blushing?!" I said poking his cheeks.
"So uhm where do you wanna eat?" He said changing the subject.
"Anywhere! Surprise me!" He nodded and we both got into the car.
"Ok, close your eyes. I'll let you know when to open them." I did as he said and covered my eyes. I had no clue where we were going. Then I heard him open his door and close it. He wasn't gone for long. When he came back, I smelt french fries.
"Open!"
"McDonalds!"
"Since we didn't eat at The French Room, I thought french fries would make it better." I laughed and got some fries from the greasy bag. We sat there, in his car, eating burgers and fries while laughing and talking.
Later we went to his house. I was nervous, he wouldn't tell me what we were going to do. I walked through the door of his house and I was in awe. The floors were a beautiful dark wood. Above me, there was an amazing chandler. Jake laughed at my expression and walked me over to the living room. There were at least a dozen movies layed out on the coffee table.
"Pick a movie! I'll get something for us to drink." I walked over to the movies I quickly looked through them. There was all types of movies. From romance to horror. Then I saw one of my favorites, The Ringer. Jake came over with grape soda and popcorn. I showed him the movie and he poped it into the DVD player. We sat down on the brown leather couch and waited for the movie to play.
"Should I wear my shirt up or down? Or up? Or possibly tucked in?" Jake and I laughed.
Jake and I laughed almost the entire movie. I was practically crying from laughter. Once the movie ended, I headed to the bathroom. Once I came out, the lights were dim and rose pedals were laid on the floor. I followed the path of rose pedals into the living room I was just in. I was in awe.
"Oh my gosh..." I whispered to my self. I felt arms wrap around my waist and they brought me close to his warm body.
"Like the roses?" Jake asked quietly.
"Aw Jake it's so pretty!" I turned around and gave him a hug. Jake gave me his trademark smile.
"I thought we can just have a romantic desert..." He mumbled rubbing the pack of his neck.
"Aw!" I smiled and kissed him on the cheek.
He grinned from ear to ear and quickly went over to the kitchen and grabbed something. He came back with an ice cream sundae and a little bowl of cherries. I smiled and walked over to the couch and sat down. He handed me a spoon and sat right next to me. We shared the sundae and cherries.
"I bet you can't make a knot out of this cherry stem!" I say to Jake.
"Well, you don't need to bet. I can't.."
"I can!" I smiled and brought the stem out of my mouth. "See!" We both laughed until I realised what time it was. "Shoot! Jake! It's almost twelve! I need to get home!" I quickly got up and raced to the door to get my shoes on.
"You have to leave now?" Jake said with a hint of sadness in his voice.
"I'm so sorry Jake! I want to stay longer, but my dad will kill me! Can you please drive me home?" He nodded and opened the door for me and we both walked out.
The car ride was silent, but not awkward. When we arrived at my house, Jake walked me to my door.
"Thanks Jake. This night was amazing. It was probably one of my best dates." I said giving him a hug. I tried to pull back from the hug, but he held me tight.
"I had fun to. Gabbie, you're an amazing girl. One day, we will have a second date." He winked. I was so caught up in the moment, I leaned in to kiss him. When our lips touched, I didn't want to pull back. He kissed back passionately. It was amazing.
Then our amazing moment was ruined by Heather. "EW! Gabe!"
I pulled away from him and gave him a hug, waved good bye and ran inside.
"Gabe! Why is Jake kissing you?" Heather asked, crossing her arms.
"We were on a date, he likes me. I may like him too." I smiled. She growled and stomped upstairs into her room. I was dazed from the kiss, so I stumbled up the stairs and to my room.
That night was the best. A second date would be nice. But I just got out of a relationship... Is this to soon? I think I like Jake though.
