The Haunting

Chapter 4

"Kanato is stable but he's asleep in his own room now" Reiji told everyone in the living room. Everyone had their head down or avoiding eye contact one way or another. They all sat in 20 minutes of silence. Shu finally raised his head. "Reiji..." Shu whispered. His eyes were wide in fear as his eyes were locked on a figure above them in the balcony. "Oh boys..." A smooth, female voice purred,"What ever shall happen to that poor baby traitor, Kanato?" Everyone's eyes snapped up above. Distinct purple hair, bright green eyes, pale skin that brought each triplet painful memories. Cordelia began to saunter her away down the hall, trailing her hand across the gold rail. Her hand barely left the rail before the vampires realized the evil mother of the triplets was heading toward her middle son's room. Kanato was in serious danger! In an instant, all of the brothers had teleported to the platform above the living room in search for Cordelia. The woman was no where to be seen. They boys split up. Reiji and Laito sped down the hall toward Kanato's room. Shu, Subaru and Ayato took off down the opposite hall. "Kanato!" Laito shouted as he gripped the door frame. He came close to zooming by, but used the wall to swing into his brothers room instead of. Kanato rubbed his eyes as he sat up. "What is it, Laito?" Kanato asked innocently. The redhead and brunette let go of the breaths they didn't know were being held trapped in their lungs. "You're okay" Laito stated. "Of course, I even slept alone without a nightmare" Kanato smiled. "Laito!" Ayato shouted from the other end of the hall. Laito walked out to meet up with his brother. In his hands, Ayato held a single purple rose. Subaru and Shu followed with 6 more. "This one was broken on purpose..." Subaru showed the one in his hands. "There's blood on it too" he added. "I'll test it and see if it's recognizable" Reiji took the rose from Subaru's possession and disappeared. "She's planning to get each of you" Shu muttered. "We're not gonna let her!" Ayato shouted. "Like hell she can get to us!" Subaru growled. "Acting like that will get us nowhere!" Shu scolded angrily, "we have to act calmly about this and be on guard at all times." Subaru and Ayato shut their mouth immediately. Shu never took charge unless he believed it was a serious enough matter to do so. "How do we go about this then?" Laito asked. "Do we get him involved. Do we get our father?" Ayato asked. "Will he even answer us in time?" Laito asked Ayato. "Doubt it" Subaru gave an attitude and crossed his arms. "We wait this out. We wait for Kanato to heal and then we figure out what step is next" Shu clarified. Cordelia has really come back. She appeared in front of their very eyes. Something that astonished and scared all of them. Danger lies ahead on this path they were set on.
