I wake up to my alarm going off. I had to set it so I could get up and get ready. My sister and I have wedding gowns to try on and brides maids dresses to try on. We have cake tasting and wine tasting and nails to be done. It's supposed to be a woman bonding date, but I don't want to bond with my mother or Miss. Natasha.

I get out of bed and brush my teeth. I begin to get ready taking a quick shower and then getting dressed in a simple jeans and a shirt with my cardigan. I go to my living room, making my way to the kitchen and begin to make myself some tea. Where's my cigarettes? I get out of the kitchen and head to my bedroom to grab a cigarette. I light it and go back to the kitchen. I hear the whistle of the teapot. I take it off the stove. I turn off the stove and pour my chamomile tea into my cup.

I hear my phone ringing and I walk quickly to my room and answer it.

"Yes mother?" I hear shuffling and Natasha's voice in the background.

"We're outside." I hang up and finish off my tea. I put it in the sink in the kitchen. I grab my purse and keys. I head out the house lock the door. I put my cigarette in my mouth as I lock the door. I go to the back of my moms car and roll down the window letting all the smoke out.

"You really have to stop smoking Nicole." I roll my eyes at my sisters voice. Please can she shut up lord jesus.

"Yeah that's never going to happen." I look at her through the side mirror and she's glaring at me. My mother starts to drive to the bridal shop. Gosh this whole wedding thing is a lot of preparation I would not want. You have hair, cake, dresses, decor, vows, venues, preachers, lists, and just a lot to go into one ceremony.

We arrived at the bridal shop and we all got out the car and headed into the store. Natasha already had a dress picked out she just wants us to see how it looks and if we like it.

"Hello Patricia I'm here to try on my wedding dress." Patrica was a woman in her 40's. She is very tall, thin, blonde curls, and was a very elegant woman. She had my sister follow her into the dressing room. Mother and I are walking around looking at brides maid dresses.

"Nicole?" I hear my mother's voice very soft. I can tell she's approaching me this way because she knows she has to walk on eggshells with me.

"Yes?" I say back to her in a firm voice waiting for her response.

"Who did you go out with last night?" I sighed and smiled slightly thinking about Geoffrey. I looked at my mother putting on my poker face.

"I went out with a friend named Geoffrey." my mother smiled a little bit. She turned her back and started flipping through dresses again.

"That's great Nicole that you have someone to go out with." I nod my head.

"TA-DAH" I looked to my right and I see Natasha holding her arms up. Her dress is white with a lace cover her arms. Which stops before hitting her shoulder. It goes out on the bottom half. It's beautiful. I hear my mother gasp and walk up to her and hug her. I smile at the interaction.

"Is this your maid of honor?" Patricia pointed at me and I simply shook my head.

"Oh God no Patricia," Natasha said. Like damn she didn't have to say it like that.

"That's just my sister she's one of the bridesmaids." Patricia looked at me with sympathy and I just shrugged my shoulders.

"Speaking of bridesmaids Nicole I've picked out the coral bridesmaid dresses for you and the other girls. Try it on." Natasha demanded and I rolled my eyes. Patricia had me follow her and I did. She picked up a coral dress and I followed her into the dressing room. I tried on the dress and it looked good on me just a little big. Patricia came in the dressing room and started to pin the places that need to come in.

"Okay well we have that settled it should be done in two weeks." I shook my head and smiled. She left the dressing room and I got my other clothes back on. I left the dressing room handing her the dress and went back out to my mother and Natasha.

"Where's the dress Nicole?" Natasha looked at me.

"It's with Patricia it's a little big so she has to take it in." Natasha rolled her eyes and sighed.

"Damn Nicole get some curves on you please." I'm fighting the urge to not yell at her. We leave the bridal shop and we go to a pastry shop.

As we sit there waiting for samples, Natasha is on her phone talking to her fiancé. My mother watching her with bright eyes. Sometimes I think she's living her life through her maybe or maybe she truly is her favorite. I hear my phone ring I look at the caller ID and answer it.

"Hi." I smile. Why am I excited to talk to him? That's just so crazy.

"Hi Nicole. I just wanted to say I had a great time with you last night." Awwwn he's sweet.... And cute Nicole. Ugh little voice in brain stop that. I'm completely insane.

"I did as well. How has your day been?" I hear a little shuffling and I smile.

"It's been great. I... Uh Nicole... I'm having an art show coming up this weekend. I was hoping you would come to the opening?" I smile and I bite down on my nail.

"Sure. Why not?" the man comes out with the sample if cakes.

"Excuse me Nicole we have things to do." I roll my eyes and direct my attention back to my conversation.

"I have to go the diva is demanding my attention." I hear a laugh and I smile.

"Bye Nicole." I could hear a smile on his lips.

"Bye." I hang up the phone and direct my attention back to my sister. We begin to taste all the cakes and I definitely fell in love with the lemon and pineapple cake.

"We've all decided the Lemon." my sister makes the executive decision to speak for us. The man nods his head and he brings out the wine and my sister goes with red wine automatically. We leave and head over to the nail shop.

We sit there getting our toes done. My mother and sister chatting it up like long time friends. I feel myself wanting to cry, but I don't. I just wish we all were that close.
