Chapter 5 - Obstacle Challenge

Jaslene P.O.V.

 Getting up in the morning sucks. I rolled over to hide deeper into my covers when suddenly i felt the blanket being ripped away from me.

  " Hey, whats your problem?!" 

Ugh I wanted more time to sleep! Max stood there, with the cup of water in his hands. 

"Get up, we have stuff to do and since were partners i cant go without you so you need to get up."

 I just flipped him off and went back to bed. Two seconds later I felt ice cold water all over me. I sat up shocked and gave Max a WTF?!?! glare.

 He simply shrugged and said, "Now you have to get up"

 He left, smirking 

I just stared at the door in shock. This means war.

 I got out of my now soggy bed and went to the bathroom. I put on my favorite jean shorts and a tee-shirt with swirls of color. Then i brushed my hair back and put it into a messy bun.

 "I look good." I thought. I wasn't trying to impress anyone and definitely not Max. Thinking about Max reminded me that I needed payback.  I figured since that the bathroom wasn't wet he hadn't taken a shower yet. I grabbed his shampoo bottle and went outside. 

"This is payback" I said  as I poured out all of his shampoo. Then I went to my makeup kit and grabbed my nail polish. Thankfully I only had the cheap kind and could get a new bottle easily. I tipped the pink bottle into the shampoo bottle. Soon after I had poured enough nail polish so  the bottle was halfway full I swirled around the colors so it looked Tie dye-ish. I put the cap onto the bottle and put it back where i found it. Since I had a few minutes to kill I decided to paint my nails.

Max's POV

i walked back into the cabin and was hit with a strong smell of nail-polish. When i walked further into the room I saw Jaslene painting her nails. I tapped her shoulder and said

" C'mon, we got to go" 

 oddly there was no snappy comeback, she just stood up and followed me. As I walked out i thought either something is going on or she is warming up to me. 

We walk over to May, the head counseler. 

"Alright! Your assignment today is an obstacle challenge!," May cheerfully said. Her red hair bouncing as if it was exited also.

Everybody else groaned though. I looked around and saw that we were in the middle of the forest. Birds were chirping and it was almost dead silent. It was weird not hearing all the traffic you usually find at the city but it was also strangely comforting.

May walk over to the starting point. Long ropes were tied together and it looked like a net. The ropes stretched at least 10 left long and 6 feet wide.

"First, crawl under the ropes, Second, Jump over the three fences, and third run up to the pole, grab the flag and wait for your partner. When your partner does it, you both hold hands running coming back! The first team back wins 100 dollars, each!" She explained.

  Jaslene's POV

"Okay, ready. set.............GO!," May blew her whistle. 

I crawled under the rope, and got more dirt than i wanted all over my shirt. Two girls were ahead of me so I crawled faster. When i came to the end of the tunnel i sprinted over to the fences. while the other girls jogged. Jumping over the fences were easy for me.           2 years in Track and Field paid off. On the last one I almost got my pants caught.

I ran to my full speed and grabbed the blue flag.

Max P.O.V

I had to do the obstacle now. I saw all the other kids looking nervous and encouraging their partners. I saw Jaslene grabbed the flag. The first girl! I ran up to the ropes ad started to crawl. On the last one I felt my jeans get caught on the rope. I pulled at it until it came loose and ran up to the fences. I jumped slower than Jaslene but still was the first one. I ran up to her and grabbed her hand. Then I pulled her towards May full on sprinting.

Jaslene P.O.V

Max grabbed my hand and began to pull me and i began to run.

I'm getting this feeling fro his hand...

It's warm and soft. Why does this guy make my heart skip a beat?

 Another team began to come up to us and   this time i began to pull him. Soon we made it to May

"First Place!," May yelled. 

"Yes!" I yelled, and for no reason I suddenly began hugging Max. He held his arms back but soon relaxed into the hug.

 Then I realized what I just did, and pulled away. 

When I look at Max, I saw his eyes widen. Then he smirked. 

"Aww, is somebody blushing?," he cooed. 

"No, I-I- I had blush on today," I answered quickly and gave him an annoyed look.

Later that afternoon after we had finished the obstacle course we went to take showers. I saw Max go into the bathroom and I started to countdown down under my breath. 

 " 5,4,3,2,-- "JASLENE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
