Picture to the side is Hayes.
You could say that Jesse and I avoided each other like the plague. The only time we communicated was during History class to determine who's house we were to meet up at to finish the history project.
I suggested my house and he hesitantly agreed.Well, you see. I hadn't spoken to Jesse's family since a long time. Ever since I had that fight with him, I cut all ties with them as I would find it really awkward to converse with them.
We decided to meet up at my place on Monday after school, just a day before the due date of submission.
Monday rolled by really fast and before I knew it, the bell rung, signaling the end of school.
I looked through the crowd of students to spot Lauren who was to drop me home. It was best of Jesse just followed her car. There was no way I was going to sit in a small confined space with him.
Finally, I found Lauren leaning against a car talking to Cole. She had told me that Cole and her had really hit it off after the party. He clearly likes her but sometimes he's too dense to realise that.
"Hey Lav! " Lauren greeted as I came towards them.
Cole smiled at me."Hi." I waved at them.
"Let's get going Lau." I said."Okay. Bye Cole! I'll call you." She fluttered her eyelashes. Oh this girl.
"Actually, I was wondering whether you would want to come with me to pick up my little sister and then maybe hang out." Cole said.
Lauren looked disappointed. "I'm sorry Cole. I have to drop Lav home. Could we do this another time?"
I felt bad. Lauren was honestly a good friend. She firmly believed in the saying- 'Chicks before Dicks.'
"No Lau. You should go. I'll catch a bus."
She looked suspiciously at me. "Are you sure?"
I firmly nodded and ushered her closer to Cole.
"Have fun!" I winked and proceeded to walk out of the parking lot. I decided to walk home to get some exercise.
Suddenly I heard some honking and turned around to see Jesse in his car.
"What?" I snapped.
He sighed. "Get in loser, we're going to your place."
I looked at him as though he grew a third head.
Seriously?!"Look. You don't like me and the feeling is mutual. I don't want to get expelled so I'm trying to be nice to you. And besides. Your house is at least twenty minutes from here. Are you sure you want to walk that much?" He questioned.
He had a point right there. I nodded and got into the car.
I opened my mouth to tell him the directions when he interrupted. "I know where your house is." He mumbled.
I looked at him in shock. He still remembered where I lived?
His cheeks turned a little pink and he avoided eye contact. That was so cute.
Wait. Cute? The car journey was awkward and silent. I fiddled with his radio station but then eventually gave up when I didn't find a good song.
When we reached my house, I led him to my bedroom. I didn't want my parents to see him. I knew that they would be surprised and then ask him a thousand questions.
He looked around my room and. His gaze stopped at a certain photo. It was of us.
When we were young, we thought that we could make ice cream and sell it for a hundred dollars per scoop. I know. It was a lot.
We added all sorts of ingredients from gummy worms to M&Ms. We were super messy and in the end, we just ate all of it resulting in a very bad cold.
I noticed him smile very faintly. Looks like he remembered it too.
I took out my phone to see that The amazing kisser had texted me. Our conversations would mostly consist of our likes and dislikes. He seemed like a really nice guy.
I was replying to him when I felt a presence over my shoulder. I looked sideways to see Jesse looking at the texts.
I quickly turned my phone off.
"Who was that?" He asked.
"None of your business." I retorted.
He gave me a smug smile. "I'm going to find this guy. "
I rolled my eyes.
"Let's get back to our work. "We seated ourselves on the floor and began to type down our research.
In about an hour and a half, we had managed to complete it and we were exhausted.
"I'm getting some pizza, do you want some?" I asked.
He nodded and I got up to get out of the room. When I returned, I found Jesse sitting with a weird expression on his face.
When he saw me he immediately began to pack his things and without saying a word, left the room.
What on Earth happened to him?
I looked around and I realized something. My phone was on. I picked it up and I looked at the screen to see the chat on display. I was livid. What gave him the right to look through my phone?I angrily stormed out and caught him just in time.
"Why were you looking through my phone?" I asked angrily.
He ignored me and walked towards his car.
"Jesse! I'm talking to you!"
Still ignored me. I couldn't take it. I spun him around and punched his jaw.
"I repeat. What the fuck were you doing on my phone?! Have you heard of the word privacy? And why did you walk out like you saw a ghost?"
He just continued to look at me with an unreadable face. "You should change your password. 1234 isn't exactly a good one. "
This jerk! I growled at him. "Honestly. I think you're really stupid. Haven't I told you enough times not to mess with me? Well now. I'm going to make your life so unbearable, you wish you were expelled."
I gave him or last look and walked back to my room. I just figured out that he was awfully quiet. Usually he would give me a smart ass reply. What happened?
