I know I know, I'm a terrible person for not updating! Please don't kill me lol. I just moved so everything was a mess and I couldn't find my laptop. I'm sorry! I'll update more frequently now. I promise. So now let's get to the chapter!

🦄

I was very different from Lauren. She could engage in a conversation with a guy for hours and I could barely do 5 minutes.

Hayes walked alongside me as I continued to lick my ice cream that broke the awkward silence.

"So uh, what do you think of the weather?" I asked, mentally banging my head. You're asking about the darn weather?!

He chuckled. "The weather? It's uh alright I guess."

I nodded and cringed. Oh god.

"So uh, why did Hitler get hit by a baseball?' Looking at his confused expression I explained, "It's a riddle."

His eyes widened in understanding and he shrugged. "I dunno."

"Because he did Nazi it coming! Get it? Get it? Like Not see?"

He shook his head and laughed. "That was lame."

"Jesse told me about your therapy sessions that will start tomorrow." Hayes said, looking at me.

I groaned. "Don't remind me. Let me enjoy my ice cream in peace."

I realized that we had arrived at a park. There were children running around and I smiled. I usually hated the presence of kids but when I saw how carefree they were, not having to worry about ex best friends and kissing problems, I felt a little jealous.

My ice cream was over.
I glanced at my watch, and saw that I needed to get home and complete watching my shows.

"I need to go home." I said, smiling at Hayes.

"Okay. Should I walk you home?"

I shook my head. "I'll go on my own. Don't worry. And hey, can I have your number? You know, if I ever want to text you?"

"Oh uh I'm sorry but I don't have a phone." Hayes said. I raised an eyebrow.

"Oohkay then. I better get going."

I waved goodbye and I plugged in my earphones and began to walk home.

And then my phone started ringing.

"Yes?" I said impatiently. I hated it when people called me while I was listening to my music.

"Hey honey! I hope it's not too late but I need you to go to the supermarket and get a few things for dinner."

After she listed a bunch of items, I headed to the market. My mind was thinking about tomorrow. I don't know whether I was ready to talk to him. I don't even know the reason why he hated me in the first place. What did I do wrong?

I had to admit, I missed Jesse. He was my best friend. He was closer to me than Lauren and I missed that bond that we shared.

I found myself absentmindedly pick up a cart and I wheeled it to the dairy section. I needed eggs. I looked up and the sight before me made my stomach churn.

There was Jesse passionately making out with Katelyn.

*-*-*-*

"So basically, you're jealous." Lauren said through the phone.

"No! I'm not jealous! I'm just telling you what I saw."

"And you are telling me this because..?"

"I just thought that you'd like to know."

"Lav, denial is the first step to acceptance."

"Oh shut up. I don't like him okay? I hate him, remember?"

"Sure Hun, keep telling yourself that.
Hey listen, we'll talk tomorrow. Grace is wetting the couch again. Bye!"

I put my phone down and sighed. Was I jealous? No way. I hated him.

*-*-*-*

"You're late. By four minutes." The principal said as I hurriedly took a seat in an empty chair. Beside me Jesse sat not even sparing a glance at me. The principal was standing behind a lady who was seated at the desk.

"I'm sorry sir. Won't happen again."

"Good." He nodded. "Now this is Patricia. She will be your guidance counsellor. Behave." He left the room and I turned my attention to the lady sitting I front of me. She had straight blonde hair and blue eyes. She looked around 35.

She smiled. "Hi guys! So your principal tells me that you two have a lot of issues that prevent you from er behaving."

I rolled my eyes at that.

"So I want to tell you to treat me like a friend, not an outsider. We will have a few group sessions and a few individual ones too. To sort this problem, You need to be completely honest with me. Okay?"

We nodded in approval.

"So. Tell me, how did this happen?"

"Basically-"
"Jesse-"

We glanced at each other. Patricia looked at me and gestured for me to recount my story first. After telling it to her, Jesse snorted.

"You are so oblivious aren't you? Still so stupid." Jesse sneered,

"What?" I said, gritting my teeth. "What am I oblivious to? Please enlighten me, oh great Jesse."

"Just know, that opinions about other people like best friends can be heard." He said, standing up and angrily storming out of the room.
