First Day

There is something about waking up in a soft bed with your infant tucked into your side after months of sleeping on a sofa. It had to be one of the best feelings in the worlds really.

I cuddled Jamie closer to my chest and held his morning bottle up to his pouty lips and really took in how lucky I was to have Anne on my side because I had no doubt that if I didn't have her blessing Harry wouldn't have thought twice about kicking me right out of his house that first day.

In a total of one hour I would start my first official day of being little miss Darcy's nanny and I was actually really excited about it. Darcy was a doll, even as she was obviously spoiled by her 'uncles' and father, she still had that sweetness to her that made you want to be near her. Not most rich daddy's girls could say that.

I quietly spoke soothing words to Jamie as I intently listened to what I was assuming was Harry clomping around in his room as he prepared for the day. I can't image it was easy for him to leave Darcy in my care with the strained relationship we have going on but I was going to make it my mission for him to realize I wouldn't hold Darcy accountable for her father's shortcomings.

It wasn't long before there was three short, loud, knocks at my door, that made both myself and Jamie jump, and Harry's grumpy voice filtering through.

"I'm leaving. Darcy will be up shortly, feed her and don't mess up."

No good morning. No good bye.

"Jack ass."

"What was that?" He responded. My eyes widened. I hadn't realized he was still there and listening.

"Nothing. Have a good day you lovely ray of sunshine you."

I heard him scoff from the other side of the door, which made me smirk, before his heavy foot falls sounded down the stairs and out the door.

My eyes dropped down to Jamie who was smiling up at me from around his bottle.

"Yay. He's gone." I cheered quietly, beaming down at my son and pumping a fist in the air. He giggled like he knew what I was talking about. "Now let's go get breakfast ready for Darcy."

I quickly got myself and Jamie dressed before making my way down the steps with him. "We're going to have so much fun today, just you, me and Darcy. No big meanie man around to ruin the joy." I said in a baby voice while placing Jamie on a fluffy blanket with a few toys in eyesight of the kitchen while I got to mixing pancake batter.

As soon as I had a decent amount of pancakes cooked I made my way over to Jamie who had rolled himself around giddily on the blanket.

"Let's go wake up Darcy, little man." I cooed holding him to my side while I made my way back up the stairs.

Yesterday, while moving in, I hadn't had much of a chance to actually see inside of Darcy's room, but now as Jamie and I quietly made our way to the pink bed in the pale purple room I had the opportunity to examine the perfectly decorated little girl's room.

It was any four year old girls dream room with the large stuffed animals and baby dolls and ballerina portraits, the netting around the bed had pretty little colorful butterflies attached to it and multiple pink and purple fluffy pillows were thrown about the bed.

It was about the time I started to muse to myself that there were more than enough pillows for an army let alone such a tiny little thing as Darcy that I realized pillows were all that were on the bed.

"Darcy?" I called into the room, wondering if she had already gotten up on her own. I hadn't heard any sign of her waking up yet.
