We pulled into the Movie theatre parking lot and parked his car. I hesitated to open the door, but I did it anyway, not wanting to seem like I didn't want to go, even though i didn't. I opened the door and grabbed his hand that was already waiting for me. We walked to the front of the movie theatre and got our tickets from some lady that more a little too much bright red lipstick.
"Want and candy or drinks?" He asked as we approached the counter.
"Uh.. yeah just a Dr. pepper please." I spoke both to Marcel and the man getting our order.
"I'll have a Dr. pepper as well, and a medium popcorn." He said politely to the man taking our order. He looked down at me and smiled at my worried face.
"So I'm guessing you two are seeing the conjuring." The man said while filling up our drinks.
"Yes, how did you know?" Marcel questions curiously.
"Oh, I just had a feeling." The man looked at me for a split second, and winked. He knew I was scared about going to the movie; he could read my face like a book. We paid for our food and drinks and headed down the dark isle and to our movie theatre.
"What was his deal?" Marcel rhetorically asks with a slight chuckle. I just shrugged at him and looked everywhere but his face, hoping he couldn't read me as well as that man.
We walked into the movie at the very beginning of it, and searched around for some seats; it seems like a lot of people wanted to see this movie. We found some at the very top row, and shuffled past people to get to them.
Marcel set the cups in cup holders and put the popcorn in between us, then put his arm on the back of my chair. I leaned into his open side, figuring that if I’m going to be scared shitless in the next hour and a half I might as well have some place to hide my face.
''''' AFTER THE MOVIE '''''
"You can let go of your death grip on my arm you know, the movie is over." he said chuckling at me.
"I don't want to." I spoke into his torso.
He laughed and wrapped his other arm around my waist, and lifted us both up out of the seats and guided us out of the movie theatre. I lifted my head out of his shirt, but kept my grip on his arm.
"It's not real, don't worry babe." He said to me and kissed the top of my head.
"B-but at the beginning, they said it was r-real!" I exclaimed, shaking like a nervous wreck.
"They say that in every scary movie, I promise none of that is actually true." he tried to convince me.
“okay." I said looking up at his slightly amused face.
He just smiled down at me, and unlocked the door to the passenger’s side of his Audi, and placed me in.
"I'm not shutting the door until you're in the car with me." I said.
He chuckled at me and lightly jogged around to the other side, slipping in and turning the car on. We drove a couple miles down to my place, but all I could do is sit and stare at my dark, vacant house.
Marcel sighed, and spoke, "You want to come over to my place and spend the night? I have a feeling you're hesitant about staying here alone."
"Uh, aren't your parents there?" I asked.
"Yeah, but they won’t notice us since it's night now and they're probably in bed reading a book or something." He said, pulling out of my driveway and onward to his.
The car ride was silent almost, with the volume very low on his car stereo like white noise. I felt like Marcel didn't really want me to spend the night. After a few more awkward moments of silence, I found the nerve in me to ask what was up with his demeanor.
"I can just stay at my house if you want Marcel..." I spoke softly.
"Why would you want to do that?" He questioned me, looking at me like i was crazy.
I could understand why, after what I just acted like at the movie theatre.
"Well... I'm just getting this vibe that you don't want me to stay tonight..." I said, hesitant of my words.
"Of course not! I would love for you to stay, it’s just.." he hesitated before continuing, " I'm really happy when I'm around you, you know? I just don't know if I'll be able to contain my feelings when I'm in the same bed as you." he said embarrassed.
i giggled a little and grabbed his hand that was resting on the middle console and said, "Don't worry Marcel. I'm not going to try to provoke you to doing anything."
He just smiled and pulled into his driveway, parking the car in the garage and stepping out of the car, not forgetting to come to my side and help me out.
